Smells like being in a sauna. I get why people like it- I can tell it's good quality but I'm not that into smelling like wood.

JasKiew

STH indeed is an alcoholic frag.

The alcoholic-ness, that supposedly Rum Note is very prominent, and the sweetness makes me feel like smelling a freshly poured glass of sweet rum. So very Boozy. Fresh rum on my skin.

Prunel

This is a man, 30+, in a suit, going to work where he'll have to take some decisions. This is a very serious, gentleman fragrance. The opening is great, but I'm not a massive fan of the dry down. You have to LOVE cedar wood, on my skin the dry down after 1h30 is 75% cedar.

notTryHard

Woody but I get some faint incense smell too. It's ok.

Goldena35

Spicy, woody, boozy. This is thick and warm but something lifts it and gives me this clear icy cold tone too. I’m getting this musky cedar patchouli thing with the spicy nutmeg. I love Killian (for the most part) all of the fragrances I have tested have truly taken me on a journey. They develop in such an interesting and unexpected way on my skin. This is no exception. I don’t really get rum specifically but I can feel booze. I also don’t pick up the dried fruit or vanilla and the jasmine is just a whisper. There is something green but that is possibly coming from the cedar. Whatever is going on though I love it. This is super sexy to me.
**I am hoping to come back and edit this to explain that cold vibe I get …but as of now I can’t tell you where it’s coming from because overall this is a warm spicy dry thick perfume. It’s weird. And this is a terrible review …I really am having a hard time explaining the weird contradictions I am getting here.I looked up another perfume I own that gives me that same cold feeling but the only overlap is jasmine and musk. The musk I kinda can see but …still stumped. 🤔

Ok, I posted an update to this a while ago about strong sillage. Today was a good day for STH again and I had a stronger sillage moment than before. I was in one (large) room and someone in the adjacent room divided by a wall, smelled me through the doorway. The doorway was about 10 feet behind me to my right and the guy who smelled me was three feet on the other side of the doorway. Something else important to note is that I was sitting. I wasn’t moving around and there wasn’t much movement around me. In fact, the only other people in the room were probably 10 feet in front of me. And I never walked into the other room. The guy I’m speaking of walked by the door and simply said “Someone smells really good. Like good cedar”.

Everyone is different but I don’t think my physiology is anything other than normal. I had in two sprays behind each ear and that was it. Much has been said about the longevity and sillage of STH but I feel like I get good push from this until about 6-7 hours. I’m sure it’s still there after that but slightly better than a skin scent. I’m at the 12 hour mark now and if I fan my neck towards my face, I can faintly smell it. I’m sure it could be smelled during a hug. And the guy that gave the compliment earlier was about at the 2 to 3 hour mark.

I highly recommend STH and If you’re curious, try a sample. This is highly masculine and highly woody with very high end cedar notes. I will add this one last point. I purchased my bottle from Killian, not a discounter. I’m not knocking discounters because I have other fragrances purchased from them. I dont know if it makes a difference with this one but I’m just offering my perspective.

AmoreProfumi

You have to be a lover of cedar, I layered this with Burberry’s Hero, & Swhoo man, very pleasant and gorg! Not my favorite Kilian but still an enjoyable offering if you like woodier smelling scents; great for colder months. 👍🏼

@CrabsuitLando LOLL hilarious review

TheFragranceVol

Ok, so I got this recently, and it's been very so-so. The fragrance is iconic in the community, and it smells amazing. The rum note smells very realistic, and that is something I was particularly looking for when buying this one. It did it well enough, and I got it. Here's the problem though: the fragrance doesn't have a whole lot of staying power. It hasn't lasted past the 6 hour mark for me yet, so if you want a beast mode fragrance, this isn't it. This sort of evens itself out for me. What's putting it into slightly above average territory for me is the quality. It's stunning. That's not an issue here

Filip bre

One of the few fragrances that make me wanna puke I don't know what note is there in the opening and dominant throughout but it is too much strong and gives me a headache. Sorry but pass for me.

CrabsuitLando

Once it hits your skin it immediately evaporates off your skin & dies. Similar to the name of the fragrance lol. Wow. Very disappointing.

bugsyiii

What an amazing fragrance! Just received my bottle and I am stunned at how fascinating this fragrance is. I am also surprised by the resemblance or similarity to another known house-Frapin; within the Frapin 1697 there is the use of Rum and Cognac, however in Straight to Heaven there in lies the boozy quality of Hennessy.

Some time ago I use to own a few Frapin fragrances; this one has the Frapin 1697's Cognac style. If you are redolence to the scent of booze, be it Hennessy, Rum, even Cognac you would recognize the correlation.

Straight to Heaven, IMO, has the similar style as Frapin's 1697, even 1270. Kilian's Straight to Heaven is smooth and boozy, with ever so light sweetness and tobacco. Additionally, there is evidence of vanilla and patchouli, however those ingredients give this fragrance proper balance, IMO.

Love rockin' this one!

Follow up to my previous post…..second day wearing STH and first 20 minutes at work, I received a big compliment from a female coworker. And by big compliment, I mean the scent became a brief conversation. And after 6 hours, was again complimented within 20 seconds of walking into an office.

ClosetGeek

My bottle of STH arrived yesterday. Of all of my blind buys, this one I had the greatest doubt. Much has been said about lacking performance. And then just trying to zero in on people’s interpretation of the scent based on their experience, it really made this one difficult for me. I am very pleased with this acquisition.

One quick spray on the back of my hand last night yielded an intense dose of cedar that gradually transitioned into the oak that many have referenced. The oak was faintly imbrued with cognac, which is where it sat for about an hour. I started thinking this was all there would be, which would have been quite disappointing. I even started thinking that maybe letting it sit for a couple of weeks would yield different results. But then I noticed something a little sweeter and realized it was the fruity and vanillic notes revealing themselves. Very subtle but very pleasant on top of an evened out boozy woody note. Still not entirely what I expected and undecided on how much I liked it, but I did like it. After about four or so hours, it seemed to be a skin scent at that point when I went to bed. Two things I tried to remind myself were, 1) it was one first spray on the back of my hand and 2) I’ve noted a few people have noted that while STH is a cooler fragrance, it opens up more when warm. I keep my house pretty cool plus I had a bit of an extra chill going on.

This morning, I decided to go ahead and give it a test drive to work. Two sprays in each side of my neck and one on the back of my hand (which I usually don’t do). I am a much bigger fan of what I smelled last night. A few more sprays really brought out the full scent. Cedar/oak is about the same but a more robust but balanced cognac note. I could tell it was radiating off of my skin nicely. By the the time I got to work, I was about an hour into the fragrance. Easy for me to smell and felt like it had a decent push. I was up and more active, dressed in a sweater in a heated building (nothing crazy). As of this writing, I’m about 5 hours in and am still experiencing the fragrance just the same. Out of office meetings all morning and I’ve only been in my office for about 20 minutes. A female coworker walked in and the first thing she said was “something smells really good”. She is in here often and has never said that. I’m not a fisher of compliments but I do appreciate a comment or two about my fragrance.

I don’t know how others would interpret this scent off my skin. But for me, this is classy. Luxurious. Masculine. Board room. Private bar. Serious. This is Bruce Wayne in a suit and tie at 9pm weighing the weight of what must be done as Batman later at midnight. This scent will wear you if you don’t/can’t wear it.

Longevity is still ultimately to be determined but I’m at a solid 5 hours with decent push. For what I would wear this for (would not usually be work), I’ll be thrilled to get 6 hours. My fragrances serve a purpose so longevity is relevant to me only to that purpose. I didn’t mention before but my compliment came from about 5 feet away. So in terms of projection and silage, I will say it’s very good. Very satisfied with this purchase!

booneht

This starts like you just fell face-first into the woods, right after a heavy rainstorm. You ate enough dirt to fill your daily calories and now everything smells damp and earthy.

After about 15 minutes, when your skin warms the fragrance up, it will bear a striking resemblance to "By The Fireplace" from Maison Margiela. It's almost like wearing the same perfume. A bit drier, not projecting as loud, but you will definitely smell BTF, and it will stay like that for almost an hour, and then something happens. Something wonderful.

Suddenly, the fruity and flowery notes pop out and finally breakthrough the heavy woodsy notes and patchouli and Straight to Heaven you go!

This post-one-hour profile is what makes this one wonderful. Versatile, slightly masculine and classy. It doesn't project as loud as you might expect, but it lasts and when you let someone close, they will notice it, and they will notice you!

Ezekiel

I don't know what fragrance alot of the reviewers are talking about but this is a perfect blend of a boozy sweet, earthly woody scent. Yes it is sort of a linear scent but it is the perfect linear aura.

sisina96rv

This scent is more masculine. Wood and patchouli are present, together with a distinct sweet note. For me, it smells like a masculine shaving foam. It is clean, long lasting and quite linear. I found it boring, wearing the sample for several hours.
I think this smell is " OK", although I would not be impressed by a gentleman wearing this fragrance. But overall it is a smooth blend and it resembles something from Penhaligon's Portraits. I think choosing this fragrance is solely about personal preference. Give it a try.

MoctezumaC

AN ALCOHOLIC'S FANTASY.....

This is the booziest fragrance I have owned...the hangover is worth it every time. Lasts so long on my skin and got me so many compliments when I had it in my collection.

It makes me live my pirate fantasy but in a classy lounge...wooden leg and all. Give this a try if you love sweet / spicy cocktails.

Kaleigha

This is totally not for me. It gave car air freshener vibes that never went away. Not a bad smell for a candle or a room scent, but not something I want to smell like.

Ilovedkmen

Something dry, uninteresting and flat.

Controlledbyscent31

Woody aventus not near as projecting but a more refined subtle version. Definately more male then unisex imo.

chiragh

Probably one of the best Winter Frags out there.

Love it <3

another leon

Opening smells like damp earth and dries down to a smoky Adventus. I like it, it’s kind of addictive!

SitooKosit09

Ok am i the only one getting the jasmine - sambac combined with burch smell that's in aventus's middles notes ,in the middle of this one as well ? There's something animalic about it. In any case great scent.

Chelslovesfragrance

I get straight barnyard smell. I have tried this scent many times, but it stays that way for the entire duration of the fragrance. I really wish I got a good boozy note, but here, all I smell is that barnyard smell. It's a let down for me.

aromaarchitectusa

I am a huge fan of Kilian's collection and thoroughly enjoy many of his offerings. Straight to Heaven really blew me away upon introduction. It exudes a mysterious sexiness in its dark, rich flavors. My urge to speak up however comes from its lack of performance: sadly, even a dozen sprays does not yield satisfactory projection. I have not tried the Extreme version but, at least for the time being, its discontinued and therefore not much worth discussing. Again, StH smells glorious, truly delicious! But, alas, it is fleeting and very, very weak.

edward1119

It is a fantastic rum barrel. I really love it.
Projection/Longevity is soso however - have to spray 6 on body and 2 on wrist.
"Initio Side effect" may be a better choice.

frankyt

I get a lot of floral off the top and more of the woods, greens, and rum when it dries down more. This is a pretty bold smell but still smooth. Wish I got more of the fruit and booze to be honest. Would not buy this personally.

NEONinitial

very strong cedar and patchouli, i can see why some wouldnt like this, but i kind of love it. i can picture wearing this for a formal event, but also more dressed down- like something youd wear with a leather jacket. very dark and rugged to me, but in a classy way

QueOndaGuera

I actually gagged from this one, the projection is strong and it is smoky and boozy. I can see it smelling good on a leather jacket in the winter but on my spouse and absolutely not on me. For me unfortunately it was so smoky and boozy it triggered the ick of smelling alcohol that you’ve gotten too drunk on. Like I woke up hungover and can still smell the spilled booze and cigarettes on my clothes. Gave it to my husband to try for the wintertime in the hopes it will smell much better on him

thelaralavery

Is it me or this reminiscent of a light/clean version or Mugler’s Angel? Lol

robbief777

It smells okay. Almost identical to Southern Comfort by Coastal Carolina Parfums. I can smell most of the notes, but the cedar is WAYYYY stronger than everything else.

Patr70

I sprayed Kilian "Straight to Heaven" on one arm and Kilian "Black Phantom" on the other arm.. and Straight to Heaven vanished 2 hours later. Black Phantom lasted 4 hours before it started to fade and it also had a much better sillage than Straight to Heaven. And in my opinion Straight to Heaven smells nice but is totally forgettable and is not very intoxicating. Rating 6/10

Michelle0022

This is a true smoky, cedar fragrance. It is everything that “by the fireplace” by maison margiela tried to be but ended up with that watered down version of this beast. This has so much scent projection and sillage it is insane. I sprayed this on my jacket three weeks ago and I can still smell it. I love too layer this especially because I don’t like very sweet or “girly” fragrances. This is all smoke, spice and just rough in a good way. I can definitely see a man wearing this on its own. This is a manly, night time fragrance. It is clean, crisp I can see someone by a fire drinking a crispy cold rum at a black and white formal event. I smell tobacco even though it isn’t listed in the notes. It’s a classic refined scent. I love fragrances like these because they tell a story with just scent. it is confident, strong smell. i love this.

9/10

Jonnyd22

A solid 7.5/8 out of 10. Boozy, sensuous, and slightly mysterious. Projection is good. Reminds me of Bentley for Men Intense.

Nguyenthy

The first impression when spraying this fragrance is that it's truly intense, spicy, and deep. It left me perplexed and bewildered by its unique scent. I'm not sure how it will be used.
However, by some magical means, I recalled this peculiar scent when I attended a ceremony at the church. As the solemn atmosphere filled the place. Wow. It was exactly that, this fragrance is attempting to depict.
A warm woody scent, a hint of rum as during a ceremony, the intense spiciness adding a powerful emotional touch, just like the feeling when attending a sacred ritual.
I don't want you to misunderstand that this fragrance is meant for formal ceremonies. In my opinion, it exudes the seriousness of the user's personality, a profound glimpse into a mature character, someone composed, profound, not flashy, yet emitting an attraction due to the warmth of their experiences.

fragrancegorlie

I’m a woman and I love wearing this one. It makes me feel sexy and powerful. Definitely very woody and boozy and spicy, but with a hint of sweet.

Myrtillajus

A fragrance that reproduces the smell of the stale wood of the barrels to my nose. It might be pleasant maybe , but not to me . Having "warm tropical nights" as inspiration, I was expecting something more rounded and fruity. I find it pretty wintery, it doesn't seem to have a complex evolution, unfortunately it doesn't fit my style.

toosimilar

Hell one
Not sure if it really reminds Ursa, but both smell terrible
Sorry

RayCashhhh

A disappointment. Smells like nothing on my skin. I traded Gentle Fluidity Silver for this and regretted it immediately.

Rjdee

I’m not trying to tell you what to do…but the reactions I get from this fragrance from women is truly remarkable. Yes, it doesn’t project as far as I want. For sure. But I pull the trigger a little more on it and enjoy. Lasts a pretty long time. I’m one of these people that won’t buy a fragrance if it doesn’t project…but this frag is changing me. It’s that good imo.

drmarwan

This masterpiece isn’t for everyone. This is a sexy elegance stuff. Super unique that’s nothing alike, stands out alone. For me, it’s intoxicating, can’t get enough of it. It’s my signature scent since 3 years, will be my lifelong.

endlesssummer

Animalistic civet type notes that border on urine mixed with coconut.

DuftHexe

Based on the notes, thought this would be something I would love, so ordered a 2mL sample from Lucky Scent. Cedar notes are so overwhelming it smells like the bedding in a hamster cage. I could hardly smell any of the other notes. It also made my skin itch! Had to wash it off after 20min or so. It’s STILL there, and I’m still itching. Time for some witch hazel to scrub it off me. Scent is reminiscent of a Chanel cologne (that had incredibly strong projection/sillage) my Dad used to wear in the 1990s. I’m a heterosexual woman who absolutely does not want to smell like her Dad or hamster bedding. Nor would I like to smell this fragrance on a guy. It made me almost choke. Hard, HARD pass.

Whateverwhocares

Patchouli in an exotic woodscape. You’re holding a glass of rum. Wish it were stronger. No nuance needed here, because you can hardly smell the main notes anyway. I assume the extreme flanker is awesome…

The Wolf

One of my favorite scents of all time. Gets tons of compliments if that's something that is important to you. I've never met someone that doesn't like it on my skin but ymmv. I once had a lady friend tell me this is the sexist thing she's ever smelled, and this woman owns and has tried tons of niche perfumes.

My problem is my skin drinks this stuff. Longevity is soooo bad I've got to carry a decant, and this stuff isn't cheap. Other than that, its perfect. I've even worn it to the office without issue.

I have hundreds of frags and decants, and I have tried thousands. This is still the BEST night out/date night fragrance IMO. But, you're going to need to spray heavy, and you're going to need spray often. If you can afford to do that, it does not get any better than Kilian STH.

Scent 10/10
Performance 1.5/10

Angekkuma

Smells like i spilled expensive liquor on myself.

I'm in love. the sexiest men's fragrance i have encountered

MarkoPeeko

Wowsers.

A heavenly mix of cedar, patchouli and rum. A soft blend of boozy fruits and vanilla in the background. My untrained nose doesn’t pick up much more at this stage in my journey.

This is stunningly blended. The projection off four sprays is moderate to strong. Only 2 hours in, but so far, so good. Will report back on the longevity.

I got a 7.5ml bottle of this in Kilian’s cellars collection. Worth every dollar.

Amazing juice.

LLdeduction

Not a fan of the opening, too much patchouli for my taste. BUT, that dry down is pretty decent. Love the dark mixture of boozy fruitiness with a woody undertone. Sadly I can't stand the dirty patchouli in this one.

Aizen1987

Pure touch wood/ wood polish/ varnish like smell.
Reminds me of smelling a freshly cut bark of tree also.
Cedar and very strong nutmeg notes present.

Don't know why some reviewers think this is better than black phantom. Black Phantom way way way better, totally another lvl.

MeguminLikesExplosives

my ONLY complaints are the price, longevity and projection-those are major factors in a fragrsnce's worth but straight to heaven to me is just a masterpiece.

denisa_iv

It reminded me of Oud and Bergamot by Jo Malone. I compared them side by side, and while Jo Malone is indeed more citrusy and somewhat fruitier, this is deeper, more complex imo, it's nutty and delicious right in the beginning. Rum is listed but I'd almost say I get cacao also (maybe it's just the nutmeg playing tricks on me). It's definitely more gourmand and not necessarily boozy, though. Eventually they both settle to a very similar scent, and neither is very long-lasting.
I tested them thinking they are unisex (although this one is clearly listed for men- I did not pay attention), however, I don't like them on me, I need something that leans much more feminine.

scenturian

Wondering if there will be Straight to Hell. Btw I have leather jacket from Straight to Hell :)

SalivatingSoul-stice

Now comparing this to Ursa, STH is easier to wear on a larger scale. There is a similarity between the two for sure. The only thing this has over Ursa is the opening. STH has a much better and charismatic opening with how the cedar seems to carry this white woods theme. The patchouli is more of a cleaner (clearwood) variety.

Although this is a solid smelling fragrance, this is not enough to beat out ursa's deep deep magical drydown (that you have to wait 6 to 8 hours for)

Unfortunately STH is unable to replicate or match ursa's deep dry down close enough for me

Ursa also still leads in the performance department as well...so yeah, there ya go people.

Unisex (leaning male)

Fragrance story: “Smoldering with addictive sensuality, a burning splash of rich dark rum defines the opening, its sweet gourmand chord is softened by creamy vanilla and dried fruit. Spicy patchouli pairs with the fresh, woodsy scent of cedarwood to finish, finding animalic harmony at long last.” (From website)

My thoughts of this scent

Addictive sexuality: I find this perfume really sexy. It’s really seductive and amazingly unisex.

Rich dark Rum: Rum is really soft and well blended. It’s like from very old barrel making boozy note luxurious instead of harsh cheap Rum. It’s boozy but not in the sharp way. It makes this perfume interesting. Nutmeg and Vanilla makes Rum to linger in sophisticated way and even if it’s listed in the opening I can get sensual Rum vibe all the time.

It’s sweet gourmand: There is just right amount of sweetness to make this blend a pleasant experience but this definitely is not sweet like mostly gourmands are. I don’t even think this as a gourmand. Vanilla makes other notes soft but it’s so well blended there that I don’t detect it as gourmand way.

Finding animalic harmony: Since I’m a big fan of animalic scents this is definitely not animalic. There is Musk but it’s rather soft Musk in the base together with Patchouli and Cedarwood so don’t be afraid of any animalic vibes here. The only animalic thing which I get here is that if my husband wear this I feel an extra animalic, addictive, sexual attraction to him. 💁🏽♀️😅🔥

I highly recommend to sample and this maybe needs time to grow on you. I had many samples, didn’t like it first but I took it once again and since that I have loved this scent so much.❤️🔥

ChanelNotes

Harsh. Vicks Vapor, like it's trying to singe the nose hairs with its harshness. Wish this wasn't in the big discovery set, should have been angel share or back to black instead

Andrewthecologneguy

L'Insoumis by Lalique is so close, retail ask for Straight to Heaven is hard to justify.
Masculine leaning, although it has vague facets that is feminine-amicable.

Docplaya

Rum, patchouli, and nutmeg….hmm…not horrible but not for me.

Velja

First of all this one does not smell like Ursa at all. There are some similarities in the drydown, but they are two different perfumes. The similarity is max 20%. STH is divine, unique from beginning to end. More than 150 perfumes from both Niche and designers passed through my collection. STH is unique and does not resemble any other. The quality of the ingredients is incredible, you can feel every mentioned note and the perfume evolves from strong alcoholic notes to woody vanilla notes at the very end. The patchouli in this perfume is amazing, better quality than any other. The performance is solid on my skin, it lasts 6-8 hours and the projection is moderate throughout the duration with an accent in the first two hours. I do not agree that it is unisex, this is a real men's perfume for gentlemen. Of course there are women who can wear it, that's nothing new, many women like to wear men's perfumes and that's ok. The price is high, but it's worth every penny. Anyone who has a problem with durability can always spray 10 times and spray on their wardrobe. For me, one of the best perfumes ever made and I think I will always have it in my collection.

meama

Alcoolic Fluffy musc
Some very good notes of Cedar and patchouli on a LOT of white musk... nothing special...even boring if like me you're still waiting for an evolution after 1h.
It's like a sketch of perfume still looking for his topic or something to layering à la Jo Malone. You have a intense alcoolic sweet base of sticky musk waiting the barman to find out what it needs to mix with it.
Imagine a women having put too much LaVieEstBelle to go out (it's already horrible, I know...) in a crowded bar and spilling his huge cocktail glass on her. Cloying zacharine sweetness with evaporating alcool....and a relief when she leaves the place.

the price looks like a customer credulity test: how far are they able to pay for pharmacy alcool if you put a golden cap on the bottle?

Ferg1

Scent-Wise, this is by far my favourite fragrance, really sexy and masculine. I got asked so many times about what perfume i'm wearing with this one, it's crazy.

The only problem is the terrible performance, it's illegal haha. honestly i spray it like 10x everytime, and i get like 1 or 2 hours of decent projection but nothing crazy. At the beggining i was on 3-4 sprays, fades out within 30 minutes, barely noticeable. Then i started to do 7-8 sprays but that's why my 50ml bottle got emptied within 3 months.

Wanted to test the Extreme version because of that but was already sold out. But that's for sure a fragrance that i will keep buying despite the performance, it's heavenly.

Edit : I bought it again after finishing my first bottle. And i have to admit that it performs much better than the old one that i had. projects more and lasts longer.

BGBG

One of the best fragrances ever created!

caprilyic

starts off with a really unpleasant chlorine on me, but soon dies down to something mild and pleasant

sarahherbs

I love this so much! This is dry like a sauna. It’s full of patchouli, woody, almost dusty cloud like spices. It’s thick and airy, dirty and clean. Suitable for layering. It’s linear and doesn’t change much, not a bad thing

aaronmy

This smells good. It's like a dirty cedar scent. It's a masculine fragrance that's quite sexy in my eyes. But it smells versatile as if you could wear this to a business meeting. I like it. It performs ok for the first hour or so but becomes a skin scent afterward. When performing, it has a nice trail that's pretty alluring and enjoyable. I think an extra spray or two could help.

Does this really smell like Ursa? Can someone elaborate for me?

When the sales assistant sprayed this on the test strip, I was completely nose blind to it.
Good thing I kept it in my purse. Whatever top notes I'm currently blind to dissipated quickly to reveal a smooth body.
Gorgeous unisex fragrance but I'd like it more on a man. It's unisex in my book though.

Your idea of Heaven has to involve patchouli to enjoy this one. I really only like patchouli as a background noise, not front and center like it is here. That said it does mellow as it dries down where the rum and the dried fruit start to shine through. The cedar is subdued, not dominating like it often is. It's a really lovely blend, and although marketed for men I would happily wear it, I just wouldn't pay what they're asking for it.

SophiaViolette

Fresh and woody opening of cedar and patchouli, but some notes come off too strong and resinous.

A bit better on skin after a few minutes, the dry fruits notes are more settled, but a bitter resinous smell is still persistent.
Could definitely work better on some skin/men. The rum brings some pleasant sweetness.

Dry-down is really lovely, spicy, fresh and woody.
Definitely more masculine, but lacks of dimension, maybe best to layer with another perfume.

Smells good but performance is garbage

The performance is unacceptable. It's a shame, because the scent is not bad at all...

Performance 3/10

This is so smooth of a scent. I get a rummy dry fruit with an amber vanilla backbone. Smells like something what T'challa would wear to an Avengers black tie event. I rate this an 8.5 fragrance.

Miss Collector

Got a tester online, I've never smelled patchouli before but turns out I don’t like patchouli. Very strong patchouli smell, got compared to camphor drops, a little fresh like mens aftershave, after reading notes I could pick out the cedar, too. I'm a woman, but after spraying it on my skin none of the guys in my family wanted it, I guess hating patchouli is hereditary. I asked a family friend if he'd like it and he did take the tester, so like it or hate it I guess. Definitely a masculine smell in my opinion, not very unisex.

@Jays_Juice Man just wait for 2,3 weeks! Month is perfect but ... Give him a chance. It'll be totally different story.

Jays_Juice

I blind bought this and received it today. I’m totally disappointed as it doesn’t mix well with my skin. The opening is amazing it’s a woody rum note then the dry down hits and it smells like lawn weeds on me. I have a 1.7oz bottle for trade or sale if anyone is interested U.S. based only please.

Edit: I have yet to trade or sell my FB and I’m glad! After letting the bottle sit for a couple of weeks and trying it this evening on my wrist, I love it! Complete 360 change in my opinion after giving it some time I no longer get that grass/weed smell. Now it’s a strong Rum and Cedar scent that is amazing to me this one is staying home with me after all. My only complaint now is I’ll have to over spray the juice in order to get some respectable performance.

Aizentzzzz

If somebody has a bottle willing to trade in the US please let me know , thanks!!!

I want to preface this by saying that I created an account just to say this.
I received a sample set directly from the Kilian website including one for straight to heaven.
It opens with a terrorizing scent of rum, which I am a fan of. The moment it dries down a minute or two later, you are introduced to what I can accurately describe as the scent of a sweaty sock after a vigorous workout after it dries down slightly, allowing the scent of sweaty feet to set in and mix with the moist sock. I urge anyone who is not a millionaire to absolutely avoid spending their hard earned money on this.

I almost have to applaud the olfactory marvel of having been able to create a perfume encapsulating this traumatic scent. Un-be-lievable.

Yo-Geo

Straight to heaven? More like straight to hell... With all due respect, smells like a moldy wooden closet to me.

icecloud

loved this one right off the bat, but it's one of few perfumes that I feel like I've built a relationship with. as if the more I wear it the more it wears me and it seems to affix to my aesthetic and personality, like a friend. I've found myself sitting back to ponder its complexities. really competes with my Montale Black Aoud and Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille

_hypnotic_

Why is oud not listed here? Would've been a nice fragrance without effing oud.

Rjdee

Such a unique fragrance. Symbolizes intense sex appeal. Amazing stuff. Longevity is pretty good, but projection is intimate/moderate. I really hate weakly projecting fragrances, but this one is truly the exception. Spray a little more and enjoy. This is not a fragrance, it’s a lifestyle.

GrenadeGirl

This is the most beautifully rounded spicy, woody blend.. as it dries down ALL the notes shine through, it is an absolute masterpiece, and I cannot tell you how stunning this is! (Small note would be that I do find the opening a little hard going, but it is only for a few mins so it's worth the wait).

To me it leans male, but I would also wear it for a special occasion.

Too expensive for a blind buy, I'd urge that you check a sample first.. although I'd have to say there is a decent chance you'll go on to buy a bottle anyway, it really is that good.

SmellAlive

Sidoniei deserves all her credit as a master of her craft! Straight to heaven simply put, is a modern classic. Shame about the performance, the profile itself is awe inspiring and I will definitely be hunting down a vintage bottle in 2023
Not much else to say that hasn't been said, I will just underscore that none of the better performing clones come remotely close to original's profile. I have not tried the extreme version, I would blind buy it in heartbeat for a good price, but I don't see myself coughing up the kind of money it's going for right now on ebay (in the 600s), It's not even worth owning as a collection piece at that kind of money.
Hit me up if you have a vintage bottle (EU)

kagumasi

i bought this for my boyfriend a while back and let me just say. wow.

i am obsessed. i saw some others commenting about the sex appeal of this fragrance and i have to agree. it's woody and smoky, you get the sweetness from the vanilla and the jasmine to balance it all out.

it's smoky and sweet, you definitely get notes of rum and chocolate. it's sophisticated and beautiful in a way i can't really describe. it leans more on the masculine side but as i woman i wear this as well. the wood is definitely the top note and it's always there so if you're not a fan of woody scents i would skip this one. but for me... i adore it.

this scent is just amazing. because of its smokiness and woodiness, it is more of an evening/nighttime scent geared for fall and winter. i can definitely see this being worn throughout the fall and winter to bonfires and camping adventures. well done killian. ♡💌

I really like the patchouli in this. Smoky and chocolaty. If one doesn't appreciate patchouli, this might be misunderstood.

michaelphamlive

This really does take you Straight to Heaven. This is now my signature scent as I love how much the cedar and patchouli give a refined and classy appeal while the animalic rum and notes of the nutmeg give this a very unique touch.

I know a lot of people have been complaining about performance issues which is true this a very airy fragrance. To that I'd reccomend just dosing it more than usual to solve this issue aka overspray until you get the desired projection you want. Truly a masterpiece in the Kilian catalouge.

YOUNES.PERSIAN

k94n99

I can confirm that they have thankfully reformulated again to increase the longevity. Easily lasting 8 hours with good projection. The king is back!

smellydude

This was my first Kilian back when the brand started and it's still my favorite to wear. It seems like a simple composition and it works! The rum and the patchouly note works so well. I can wear this in every occasion , it is not sweet, never cloying and different enough compared to other fragrances. Also my new bottle seems to last longer on my skin than two earlier refills I had bought , but it could be my imagination.

actual-working-nose

not mass appealing, smells weird and funky. not offensive, but too weird to be worn

dabeyondobsessedemperor

I've almost never seen a name so apt for a fragrance, ever. You thought you knew seduction before smelling this. THIS juice is a whole new realm of sex appeal. I've heard of people calling various fragrances "sex in a bottle", but this, THIS one truly fits the bill. It's sweet and boozy, with notes of woods, a hint of vanilla, and though it's not officially listed, I swear there's chocolate somewhere in the mix. The blend is intoxicating. This is my first By Kilian fragrance, so I'm not entirely sure--however, I think the intoxicating aspect is a common theme. Kilian Hennessy was born into a family known for their liqueurs, and from that, I think he learned to concoct fragrances that are as alluring as alcohol can be. Judging from Straight to Heaven alone (I'll say it again, that name is beyond accurate), he's a master of this craft.

I'll reiterate: the sex appeal on this one is insane. As much as I love Jean Paul Gaultier's Ultra Male, and as much as I've lauded it over the past four years, Straight to Heaven tops it, seduction-wise. And you won't have to worry about even a drop of the scent peeling away, because I swear it lasts FOREVER. I sprayed it on a paper about a week and a half ago just for the hell of it: the scent's still there. And it lasts on my skin at least through 10 hours.

This having been my very first By Kilian, I was so impressed and overwhelmed with the sheer quality of the fragrance. Where has this stuff been all my life? I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this, I was just curious to try out this scent that more than a few people have popularly called their most complimented ever on social media. Turns out, they were right. I'm not just a compliment magnet, I'm a compliment vacuum. I've gained so much respect for Kilian Hennessy, and I'm looking forward to trying his other concoctions, like Black Phantom, Angels' Share, or Moonlight in Heaven (even the bottle looks dope).

I usually suggest people buy or avoid fragrances based on a specific vibe they might like, but in this case, if you are human, male, and/or conscious, buy this fragrance. You need it. It's life changing.

UPDATE 2/10/2023: I've been using this for several months now, and yes, I am starting to see people's quips with the longevity and sillage. I remediated those issues by doubling the number of sprays I would ordinarily put on, which is generally effective, though you may need to reapply after 6-8 hours. However, I've grown to love the actual scent even more than I did when I first purchased it, and it's essentially become my winter signature fragrance.

realitygreene

This isn't for me. It's too heavy and I don't think the notes blend very well on my skin. This fragrance isn't my style, but I don't think it's 100% bad altogether. I could imagine hugging someone wearing this scent and thinking they smell good. I think I'll give this sample to my boyfriend.

Tyriel

@cheonzae I came on Fragrantica for this exact same reason.

I ordered a sample and generously sprayed my hand. Pleasant smell. Nothing special. But around 15 minutes later, I could barely smell anything. Just some very faint woodsy notes.

Perfect proof why you should always sample and not splurge $200-300 on 50ml of overpriced niche fragrances.

Update: Also tried it on fabric. Same story. Can barely smell anything. Can also smell nothing from the atomiser. All my other samples are easily detectable from the atomiser (exact same sample bottles).

cheonzae

Hey, am I the only one who doesn't smell anything as soon as it spray? I sprayed this perfume four to five times today, but it really doesn't smell anything. Of course, if I put my nose directly on the place where I sprayed, I can smell it. but there is no scent around me. I really like this scent, so it's even more disappointing.

wrath98

Very nice, smells like an old basement in the best way possible. Really light wearing experience though, was expecting something a bit denser, I will have to try the Extreme version. Performance isn't great either.

cheonzae

I really like it. but What's wrong with the longevity and sillage? Detectable within a foot for 30 minutes, lingers on skin for 2 hours. So disappointed.

likesleet

slightly sweet, but dark and deep. rum, chocolate-ish patchouli, and wood.

Pepeb007xx

This one, and Black Phantom, are 10/10
Noone will hate these, these are perfect.
Its expensive, but, trust me, its worth it for that price

Also coffin package, unreal quality.. but scents itself, like something unreal likeable, cant overspray it

Both safe 100% blindbuy

Thesmallestaromaticfeline

So far this is my favorite from Kilian. It’s earthy, woody, sweet and boozy. The drydown smells surprisingly similar to Encre Noire, but with a lot more depth.

Ilikewhatilike

Love at first sniff and continued love. I get monster performance.

I also like it better than the extreme. I'll be getting a full bottle for sure.

I think they better change the name to
“ Straight to Hell “.

Virginia Cedar (definitely this variety rather than other types of cedar) + lots and lots of ISO E Super. The other notes are blended in the background. Moderate longevity and moderate performance. I've noticed that fragrances which are heavy in ISO E Super have an amazing first "hit" for the first sniff, but after that first sniff the scent seemingly rapidly disappears and within 3-4 sniffs it's almost total noseblindness. And that's how this one is for me, unfortunately. The first time you spray you're hit with all the notes combined, the woodiness, the slight spice and slight rum. But within moments it's just become this vague cedar smell that gets weaker and weaker. Quite a ghostly smell, doesn't have any weight or punch. To be honest I'm disappointed.

Abdulaziz Mohammed

One of the best kilian scents, Sillage is not that bad but i get a compliment every time i wore this masterpiece.
9.0/10

Modred

Easily one of my favourite scents so far. The woody smell is my absolute favourite and the patchouli is a nice touch to it where as something within adds a slight sweetness which develops after awhile, probably the vanilla. However for retail price and 50ml it is a bit too expensive for a daily wear. Would expect more sillage given the price point of kilians but it is a overall nice scent

likesleet

woody pepper patchouli. i prefer when woody notes are matched with something from another spectrum, otherwise it gets boringly masc to me.

JmThms

Straight to Heaven is very nice. Predominantly woody, it has sweet and creamy touches. It's similar to Houbigant Bois Mystique for me, but with some more sweetness. The dried fruit note, along with the rum, gives it the uniqueness to separated it from the incense-y woody Bois Mystique, and other wood-dominant fragrances. I'm a big fan of dried fruit/date/fig fruit/plum notes and would love Straight to Heaven to have a stronger dried fruit note. I have a group of frags featuring those notes that I use for layering - Michael by Michael Kors, Le Dandy by D'Orsay, Serge Lutens Arabie. A scent profile that was halfway between those and Bois Mystique would be a very nice DNA. Stronger dried fruit note please. Performance of Straight to Heaven is moderate.

ASK910

This stuff smells great. To me, it smells a bit fresh and spicy, with a slight booziness. Super masculine in my opinion.
The only problem is that I get nose-blind to it after three hours or so, but people around me still notice it, even though I can’t smell it anymore.
It’s a bit pricey, so definitely sample it first before buying a full bottle.

Babakaz

I'm not a big fan of the masculine perfumes by Killian, but this one has a special place in my heart.

There's a freshness to it while still having depth and warmth, so I'd say it's wearable in any season. Not too sweet, not too woody. To my nose, it moves a lot, so pinpointing the notes is not easy, and I enjoy that.

It's not that mass appealing tho from my experience, but it's not an offensive scent. A friend of mine mentioned that it smells too smoky even tho I can't get that much smokiness, so maybe check with people you interact with daily before buying one to make sure they can handle it being in your close vicinity.

Smell: 9/10

Mysterious fragrance that will send you straight to heaven ❤️🔥

Nbebis

Straight to heaven is a fragrance for the romantic and lively person. It has a simple formula but is a very in depth fragrance with many facets. The opening is boozy and fruity, you get the dried fruits that are a little sticky, covered in rum. This leads into a woody mid where you begin to smell the beautiful cedar wood, the fruits fade but the rum sticks. The drydown introduces an earthy, slightly chocolatey patchouli that blends seamlessly with the cedar and rum. The fragrance is deep, dark, and mysterious while also being a little bright and playful. It has a very unique profile, the only other fragrance I have smelt that is similar is Ursa, and that leans a little more towards the sexy side rather than the romantic. I can see this being worn dressed up or dressed down, if it is your only fragrance it can definitely be used in the office, but if you have a larger wardrobe I would reserve this for something more upbeat or romantic. It lasts around 7-8 hours on my skin and projects for 2-3, leaving a very alluring scent trail. This is definitely unisex, maybe leaning a little masculine but that shouldn't stop anyone from wearing this stunner!

will.more

Favourite patchouli fragrance :)

Moderate performance, easy reach, daily use. Tip: buy the refill bottle ;

Ursa is not as good as STH, Ursa is Oud and Patchouli . just stick to STH and over spray ;)

aynala216

Rum and grass.

aaanamarialatis

This reminds me of my college years when my go to drink used to be Cuba Libre. It somehow reminds me of that stickiness on the dance floor at the end of the night, but in a good way. I find it pretty unisex and really sexy.

croissant_pari

Straight to Heaven By Kilian. This perfume is what I would describe as VERY sexy and masculine. Wood, decaying leaves with the addition of an animalic hint enveloped in a sweet something, something, which resembles the smell of heavenly ripened fruits. Is it a scent that a woman will wear? Honestly, I don't know. Well, I am a female and I want to smell it around me, and if there is no-one wearing it, I will. Quite addictive. Dangerously heavenly.

Fragaddict123

I wasn’t aware of the notes
I sprayed it …. Enjoyed it and was happy with it
A very beautiful combination of notes
Masterfully crafted lasts a very good while
I was enjoying it for hours I felt it was somehow linear too
Overall a grand experience for moi

dawgmangatorraper

This one is definitely something that had to grow on me. Initial blast is very cedar forward- almost pine tree in a way. The opening almost comes off fresh in this aspect. This is then offset by the sweet boozy rum that gives it this syrupy vibe. This is definitely not a mass pleasing blue fragrance, but in the air its hard not to appreciate. At first I hated this, but the more I got my nose on it, the more addicted to it I became.

antoniov

This doesn't really perform well on my skin. It smells like freshly cut grass or perhaps what others below describe like cedar. I think the fresh spice ruins it for me...

I'm pretty sure everyone loves boozy scent, whether the person drinks booze or not. Boozy notes has the ability to ease our mind, relief stress and boost the moods to happy state of mind.

𝓢𝓽𝓻𝓪𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽 𝓽𝓸 𝓗𝓮𝓪𝓿𝓮𝓷 is a woody based fragrance infused with the famous Kilian Hennessey best liquor aspects.

Starts with rich aroma of rum that is boozy and fresh at the same time. The liquor note here is very dominant yet rather airy in the utmostly pleasing way and importantly never feels overwhelming nor heady. This is what sets this fragrance aparts from all other fragrances in the boozy genre.

Woody note as the heart is subtle but very much present in the background. Cedarwood working in balance and harmony with sweet dried fruits, earthy woody patchouli and creamy vanilla as if they are one single note. It feels like all of the ingredients are blended and shaken together with rum then served as a very realistic natural smelling cocktail mixes. A truly satisfying linear holistic  aroma experience for laid back times.

This fragrance will be an excellent introduction for everyone to boozy scent before diving into heavier ones.

I also recommend to use as a combo mix to add boozines for any of your favorite fragrances 😎. Enjoy and take a splash, cheers 🍾🍷

I’ve never been tempted to try By Kilian because of the dated packaging/font and the terrible names. But I got a sample of this as a free gift with a recent perfume order so thought it was time to give it a fair hearing. I guess no good deed goes unpunished. I normally love cedar, booze notes and fruit but in this they’ve come together in an unholy rotten-wood/alcohol/fermented-fruit accord that smells exactly like vomit to me. The only good thing about it under the circunstances was that it’s very weak, with no projection. Even so I could only give it half an hour before I had to scrub it.

blueste

After only one wearing- Starts out pretty boozy on me with hints of the cedar and nutmeg. Tiny bit of the patchouli peeking through. Dries down to a nice amber. Need to wear it more, but I like it so far. It’s different from what I currently own, so that’s appealing to me, as well. Definitely worth a sniff.

Chesco

Blind-buy bottle from the small hype on this.

1st wearing, all i got was cheap wood & wood paint varnish. Disappointed, gutted, pissed off from the amount of money this cheap scent costs and also at a double whammy 50ml only bottle.

2nd wearing and my review is based on it, giving it a 2nd chance.
x3 sprays to test on my arm, blast of beautiful strong wood, and the tiniest touch of rum, both smell of good quality and real. Virginia Cedar is listed as the note, and if that's true it's probably one of the best cedars ive smelt during my 2nd year aggressive fragrance journey, and it doesn't smell like cheap ISO-E Super. It's also a very dry dusty wood note. This falls in the same scent genre as Nassamoto's 'Duro', but i prefer this STH dna because of it's added sweetness, even tho i need much more of it in order to enjoy this frag.

Mid/Heart starts to unwrap itself, giving you a more and more radiating scent pushing off your skin, which is beautiful and something i enjoy very much when it rarely happens wearing fragrances.
It give's off a beautiful bouquet, but that paint varnish is really off putting, and yet it helps create a scent trail in public.
The patchouli is one of the best i've smelt to date, even tho i personally do not like that scent because it's dryoff usually goes in the direction of 'Dirty Patchouli' aka a potted soil note, but this type used in this dna is not giving me the potted soil note, so im finally enjoying the note for once.
There is the tiniest note of i guess you can claim 'dried fruits' but its only a skin scent note only if i bring my nose to it.
Tbh, this fragrance and myself NEED more of this dried fruits note to be more enjoyable and help cut through the strong denseness of the dry dusty wood and wood varnish notes.

The musk in here is interesting, it's not one im use to. It's not animalic, nor is it a white musk found in Aventus-like genre freshies, and it's not a brown musk found in Hugo Boss Private Accord. I have no idea what kind of musk this is, but i will say it's perfectly balanced, and even tho im not obsessed with it, i will say it's pleasant.
An extremely masculine fragrance where the occasional female does enjoys wearing.

That's pretty much all the notes im getting. Beautiful patchouli in the end dry-off mixed with the Cedar & Wood Varnish again with the ever so smallest hint of Dried Fruits.
This is a half-baked fragrance, it needs something else to give it more layers and more enjoyable to the olfactory, once can't just keep huffing on wood & wood varnish. Really wished that delicious rum & dried fruits notes were much much stronger, i could barely even smell them through the whole experience, such a shame.

I’m sorry to say, but I’m obsessed. It’s against everything I love. It’s hyper masculine and nothing about it screams feminine but on me, a rather feminine woman, I absolutely am in love.

The nutmeg brings me to my childhood, which is maybe why I love it. My Greek heritage means the cuisine I’m accustomed to, is heavily enveloped by the fragrance of nutmeg. This is such an unexpected, but incredibly charming aspect of this perfume.

I get no rum, zilch. It might be there in the first 1 minute but easily it’s gone soon after. I don’t mind. The cedar and the warming, ever so gentle woods in this is really soft. I find ceder to be harsh sometimes, it stings the nostrils. It adds such a calming layer to this, I find masculine perfumes chaotic, this is ever so tender almost? Welcoming, soothing.

Needless to say, this absolutely sent me straight to heaven. I’ll be wearing this in the evening after an early shower, something to warm me up and fill me with happy memories and a safe embrace.

Coalita

No, just... no.
I don't like it at all. On my cold type of skin no sweetness at all, what I expected from fruits, nutmeg, musk, vanille, amber..
On me it smells like duet from oud and incence.
Not my cup of tea...

stephenmpx

It's such a shame, this was definitely reformulated when Kilian was bought by Estee Lauder. The original was addicting. It was heavy on the rum, super boozy. The patchouli wasnt as damp. Newer batches have the patchouli pierce right through into a patchouli/vanilla combination with a wee bit of rum. It's noticeably different than the fragrance I fell in love with in 2010.

holyneroli97

This is actually almost intolerable for me for the first 30 minutes- it reminded me of soil at a garden centre. But I was pleasantly surprised to find it lost some of that pungency and settled down into an almost sweet, woody smell an hour in. Very masculine. I would probably buy this for my boyfriend and then avoid him for the first 30 minutes after spraying

NDStars

First blast of sharp pungent green, like a camphor forest, almost medicinal and then warm oud. Rich at first, then a sweeter vanilla rum steps forward. Yes I could very much see this working very well on a man's skin, even becoming someone's signature.. . just have to give it a second for that weird medicine opening to air out. It ends sweet and warmly boozy, sexy. However, it seems like the strength should be much more intense than it is. I went fairly heavy on the trigger and it's a struggle to find it on my skin a scant 5 minutes later. Very disappointing performance. Masculine and would suit all weather.

Rickigg

I dont know if I got a wrong sample, but this smells almost exactly like Oud For Greatness by Initio.

Arber Cami

For me, the earthy patchouli/cedar dominate the smell. Hints of rum, nutmeg and dried fruits, but in general its woodsy and earthy. Ok scent but not worth the hefty price tag.

Hojubaby

i think this smells better than the extreme version, the extreme has a harsh note to it that i didn't enjoy that much, i usually blend them together but imo this one's better

Dark rummy fruity scent
7/10
Smells a lot like Tiziana Terenzi's Ursa but Ursa smells a bit more animalic

Lucyintheskywithdiamonds

(Based on Kilian official sample) Tried on forearms. Initial smell too harshy-woodsy for me. Rum adds to the harshness. The smell brought memories of Bvlgari Black which I did not like either. Diminishes rather quickly. As a skin scent for an outdoorsy manly man could work.

Elite Gentleman

Pure sex. Dark and boozy bourgeoisie panty-dropper fragrance. Makes me want to light a cigar and sip the finest rum from my cabinet

AlaskanAngel

Patchouli bomb. Not sweet at all. Just harsh, moldy patchouli and bay rum. Review of official sample directly from ByKilian.

Kaylovely

Love this but you can't overspray. Light and airy resinous gooey amber. Fresh wood in the fireplace ready to be lit. I get some rum and patch. Very nice and beautiful reminds me of Grand soir and a mugler scent combined with the light but heaviness of the rum. Crazy good fragrance!

jerry4114

This boozy scent is easy to use. Open with rum and base note with cedar wood. I love it!!!!!

hritz87

The scent is to die for ❤️ But the performance is literally garbage💔

bintTapputi

A little too much like floor polish for me. I get the idea of a cigar/tobaccoish, woody forest-y etc. But under all that there is this layer of pinesol that I can't ignore. 4/10

buonobi

1st impression: It's nice, I smelt some rum and woody notes. UNISEX.
But after I've read the review here, someone said smells like "furniture polish", I can't get this out of my mind. lol

Sillage and projection on me as most Kilian, just moderate.

The Wolf

This is a wonderful boozy and sweet woody fragrance. It's difficult to explain how this smells but I'll give it a try. Imagine a fine Cuban cigar that is filled with moist sweet wood, instead of tobacco. Now dip this "wood cigar" in a luxurious rum.

This is like a drug that fires off the pleasure sensors in my brain 🧠 🎆
It's classy smells expensive and niche. Longevity is bad and it sits close to the skin, but can project if you lay on the sprays.

Even though it's not a strong performer, it has serious "WOW" factor. This is the ultimate boozy fragrance.

Easy 10/10 Scent.
Performance 1/10.
One of the best frags I've smelled in my life.
Masterpiece scent with terib performance.

ckorp8

Another blind buy and unfortunately another one of Kilian that doesn’t work on me. I only got cedar and tiny weeny bit of rum for a few secs. And even that aren’t strong enough to be more than skin scent.

Edit. I tried spraying this after Bvlgari Yasep and the result was beautiful.

scentific

this wakes up the alpha male inside me. I want to go on a date and copulate.
best for cold nights!

My personal take on this one is weird. Some time I really like it, and some time I don't care much for it (regardless of weather). The scent is solid with a quick boozy opening that dries down to sweet and fresh cedar, but it's not quite memorizing enough to come back to. The longevity is also solid but the projection is dismal, so I don't really get enough whiff of it during each wearing, unless I intentionally go sniff it out on myself.

Woodynote

All time favorite scent profile, but I’ve decided to take a break from this one, as the longevity and projection are too weak. The scent disappears on my skin after ten minutes. The Extreme version had slightly better performance, albeit with a strong vanilla note, but even that one doesn’t last very long. That said, many people really love this fragrance and claim it’s a big crowd pleaser. People just never seem to notice it on me.

PrivateLondonCollection

I would imagine that the brief for this perfume, was to make something thoroughly modern, decadent, luxurious for a party or a night out. I think they nailed this. It's odd that some don't find it sweet, whereas I do. It's not a sickly sweetness and never overpowering, but certainly sweet. This is a combination of the dried fruits, rum and jasmine, but the patchouli and cedarwood are also prominent.
At this price, best to try a sample from the discovery set first, before deciding to buy a bottle.

Merlin_Dietrich

What is it in modern fragrances that smells like aggressive furniture polish?

I gave this a second chance, and found that after about five hours it stops tormenting you and dries down to a fairly pleasant skin smell. So for an evening date, you'd have to spray some on after lunch and then spend the afternoon in quarantine.

TheMegasus

I have a sample to try! The reviews seem to indicate that this is a more masculine than unisex, so I'm a little nervous, but let's go! Initial spray is definitely more masculine than what I would typically go for. It seems heavy on the cedar and rum, which I like. There is no sweetness.

My initial thought is that I would really like to layer this with something more sweet to make it more feminine, but I'm excited to see how this softens throughout the day.

I started noticing the patchouli more about 30 minutes in. By 4 hours in, the patchouli is the most prominent scent, and I'm finally getting a touch of sweetness. I think that I will layer it with a more simple vanilla scent next time I try it and see how that plays with it. (Yes, I'm basic. I know.)

JakamoFiNaYe

I hated this the first time I smelt it, I was struck with a cumin-like body odor scent. That made me really bummed since the notes seemed right up my alley. I was recently sent a sample of it with another purchase and it made me realize the bottle I tried in-store had clearly gone rancid.

STH presents as a rum-drenched piece of sharp cedar on a bed of intensely earthy patchouli. Amber and vanilla are present but only play background roles. This combo is easy to like and I find it grounding.

I’m now considering buying this fragrance. However, I may look into the extreme version since the longevity is not the greatest on the original.

Rated_mo

This is really boozy ...unlike the other "boozy" fragrances there is absolutely no sweetness here .. fragrance is harsh ... patchouli and dried fruit add more masculine but funky vibe here ...it's a great fragrance to smell from a distance but don't sniff it too close as it will feel so weird ..not for young ones and not for blind buys

iwouldwearthat07

Don’t like it. Really a shame too, because I loved the title, “straight to heaven”... With that name I envisioned a soft white musk with iris and rare florals, and I also loved how much admiration it receives in the fragrance community. I was very excited to say the least. Smells very woody, not in an admirable way, for me at least. Smells like you could go out to the woods, rip a piece of bark off a tree and when the sap bleeds out, just rub the sap on your skin. Don’t blind buy this because so many people give it rave reviews, you should wear it on and give it a walk around the block before you buy it. If you’re into ouds and animalic smells, you actually might really enjoy this. For me, however, no. I want to feel like I’m floating on air when I wear an expensive cologne. Hey at least I tried.

Paddington

Rum soaked wood and hints of patchouli, the dried fruits peak out but not enough to discern what they are, the nut meg spices the rum a tad, musk notably synthetic not to off putting, back ground jasmine holds it together, unisex but masculine leaning. could be used in all seasons more of a night time fragrance but i don't subscribe to limiting fragrances to season and time of day.

(3.5 bears out of 5 decent but I feel its missing the punch to elevate it further)

Aux

Sinful rum, jammy dried fruits and filthy patchouli. Opens with a blast of alcohol, gradually evaporating permitting dirty patchouli to creep in and take centre stage. This performance is permeated by rich dried fruit.

Scent: (4.5 / 5)
Boozy, dirty, enticing. The devil on your shoulder.

Performance: (1.5 / 5)
These kinds of notes (boozy, cedar, dried fruits) usually lend themselves to great performance, so I'm not sure what happened here. Detectable within a foot for 1-2 hours, lingers on skin for ~6 hours, this fragrance is seriously hamstrung by its performance.

Versatility: (2 / 5)
A dirty punch of rum I'll reach for when the sun goes down. Careful pulling the trigger on hot evenings. Leans more formal. Great for dates.

Overall: (4 / 5)
He's not afraid of getting his hands dirty. Lacklustre performance.

spumyland

It starts with a nice, slightly alcoholic, chocolatey patchouli of vanilla whiskey and dried fruit.

Five minutes after the spray I get an intimate sillage.
As it dries I also get nutmeg, musk and hints of coconut.
A dusty, sober atmosphere with massive doses of dry cedar in the finish.
A pleasant, simple smell, already heard with a perennial Oud Wood sweetness.
Woody and delicate.
Straight, clear and drinkable.

fragattack

Upon first blast, I think I get the name "Straight To Heaven"; either they named it after the angel's share, or I've just drank enough booze that I've gotten alcohol poisoning, and died. I've literally just sprayed myself with some top shelf rum. ULTRA BOOZY, so much so, that I can't detect anything under it, except some sort of maple-reminiscent accord.

After a few minutes, thick, nearly cloying maple syrup is oozing from my alcohol blasted skin. It's slightly jarring. Nearly too intense. Somehow, I'm a bit drawn to it, a bit repulsed.

After about an hour, this Kilian begins its ascent into a refined, smooth scent. It is slowly morphing into a soft, fragrant faintly musky wood. As it does, a picture comes more into focus with each passing minute. It's a candle-lit, dry, storied cellar, with oak barrels strewn about. Some of the barrels are empty, only the fragrant ghosts of the liquids they once held left behind. It's intimate, sensual, sexy, and familiar. it's a gorgeous and delicate. Although the journey to this point seems a bit long, in this cellar is where its beauty lies.

FuckHerRightInThePussy

Got this as my first Kilian. I like the scent, but I can’t say I’m impressed with the performance/sillage. It sits very close to the skin. Maybe that’s a Kilian thing? I wouldn’t know, as I'm not too familiar with the house yet. Still a nice scent though. 6.9/10.

IamdrinkingBeer

Boozy rum and woods. It's perfection, what more do you want? If you need a night out / special occasion scent, this is the end all, be all. Charm in a bottle. 9,7/10

jcarolinajr

The late dry down of this fragrance on me brings out the cosy ambience of character and an intimate desire to get close. Perhaps it’s the patchouli, perhaps the woody spicey combinations; there is a warm quality of sweet basil 🌿 that signals trust, love, and believability, and that’s what I desire to project to the world.

SA5001

I really don't like this, I got it in a sample set but will be passing it on. I think it's more masculine leaning but in all honestly I wouldn't want to smell this on anyone, men or women.

writekatewrite

I totally don't get the hype. All I get is cedar. I smell like a hamster cage. Granted, it's a clean hamster cage with fresh cedar chips, but...hamster cage. (Also, cedar is bad for hamsters. Just FYI.)

staslk

I literally made a Fragrantica account just so I could rave about this perfume. This perfume is what I imagine wealthy, old-money women in fancy penthouses smell like. I do not get a boozy scent from this. I can't explain it, but I like it very much. I'm definitely getting the perfect balance of cedar, musk and jasmine.

Sam654

Cedar.

My second favorite Kilian after Intoxicated.

bboze

A very gorgeous smelling fragrance... sweet and woody. It really hits the spot for me in terms of how it smells but the sillage is pretty poor. I would say that it is not due to my skin as many other people have also mentioned poor projection on this one. If you over-spray this (I do at least 5 pumps) you might just get 2-3 hours of moderate/poor projection but at this price point it's not good enough... such a shame as the blend is amazing

jero

If I told mon and dad I spent this kind of money on a woody fragrance called Straight To Heaven by By Killian they certainly would kill me for heaven's sake.

Silliage moderate longevity moderate, it's woody nothing more, only the wood costs a fortune like a joke. This is the heaven The Smiths claim miserable. XX

12/12/22 a post-Covid note: creamy distance wood, dry, some pleasant undertones.

_marcuscortes

Dried fruits and rum along with woods are the main players in this. The rum and fruit note was a little too strong for me almost reminded me of paint. I didnt really enjoy it. I could see why people like this though.

MasterP

Smells similar to Ursa. I prefer Ursa but would buy whatever has the best price.

Shiron212

Am I the only one who gets Aventus vibes from this?
Smells like a drier version of Aventus without the bright fruitiness to my nose.
Anyways, this scent is smoky, woody, boozy and a bit balsamic, but very wearable.
It's versatile, classy and masculine leaning.
It lasts about 7-8 hrs on my skin with 1.5 hr of moderate projection and I get whiffs all day long.
Stays on clothes for a good while, I wore it a few days ago and it was still projecting off of my hoodie yesterday, crazy!

jhjhjh

I dont like the initial spray at all, too boozy for me. HOWEVER the dry down is magical, smells like mildew in the best way possible. Mossy and damp with a bit of sweetness. In love with this unique scent

emerson10

Very interesting, very cloying. I love it but I could never wear this. I appreciate the artistry of the frag, but this is potent and very heady.

RamenBandit

Straight to Heaven is easily the most complimented fragrance in my collection, performance on my clothes/skin is more than adequate since Im still getting compliments through masks with only 2-3 sprays. StH is a versatile musky cedar with a dose of rum on top of patchouli and dried fruits. Elegant yet casual, wear while dressed up or in a white tshirt - its just that good. The only downside is that the compliments always ask what Im wearing and saying the name is slightly awkward.

*The new gold bottle cap bottles may be slightly reformulated as coloring on my older bottle for the liquid is slightly darker/more viscous looking. For what its worth, I like the newer version more since it seems a bit more cedar dominant and comes off a bit more fresh.

dabearjew82

I was dooped. I almost never blind buy. But I loved the notes and reviews and thought I'd take a chance. It doesn't stick to my skin or my clothes. It seems extremely watered down. I sell my brand new bottle for 100 if anyone wants it. Maybe I'm tripping. The scent is dope and maybe if I got it for 100 I'd be cool just over spraying. But for 500 per 100ml it needs to have extrait level performance. Anyways dm me if your interested

IAmStaka

Pros:
+ Elegant. Classy. Nice.
+ Best Cedar I've smelled
+ It gets better as it dries down.
+ Has nothing to do with Bentley for men (which I hate)
+ Decent longevity.
Cons:
- Not worth the price tag. It's way overpriced. Should be at Escentric Molecule prices at best.
- Poor sillage.

Perfumelover15

Elegant woody masculine fragrance. To me it is mostly a combination of cedarwood, patchouli, cashmeran, which enhances these notes and musks, of course. It smells expensive, but it is not sensational. 4/5

Haidee72

Similar to black phantom the rum note is really overpowering on my skin that I had to scrub it off. It’s just not my type of scent, and is more masculine on my skin. I want to find more Kilian perfumes I like but a lot of them have this rum note I dislike!

fragem

Patchouli overwhelms all the other notes in this fragrance. (-) not for me.

Schmellin_Good

This might be the best cedar forward scent I've smelled yet!

Don't be confused by the notes. This is CEDAR first and foremost. The rest of the notes play in the background to keep this from being too simple and straightforward wood. Woody, slighty boozy, earthy. Not sure what everyone is on about when it comes to the performance. This lasts at least 5-7 hours on me depending on sprays which, for me, is plenty.

For my taste this is a 10/10.

Lord Huron - Meet me in the Woods

calitrav

Out of who-knows-how-many fragrances I sampled last year (200?) this was one of a handful I chose to keep. While I'm not at all sure I would want to smell LIKE this...it's just delightful for me to smell once in a while.

I definitely get the booziness and the fruitiness right away, what may be the cedar is more in the background. As it dries down I notice the spices more, and after a while I get a bit of powder, but not too much -- just the right touch of it. This is just terrific overall.

Go4broke

After reading up about By Kilian I was excited to be in a position to purchase a full bottle, but which one? It took me ages before I settled on Straight To Heaven. After it arrived, I spritzed my wrist with two generous doses. The scent immediately reminded me of a damp cave, but after a couple of minutes it had settled into a refined masterpiece that many have described below.
I couldn't stop smelling my wrist for a good hour or so before I realised I had to press my nose right up to my skin to detect it. 2 hours later it had all but gone.
I know some people have described this juices longevity as eternal but my skin just seems to eat it up. Very little projection too.
Very disappointed with this one's performance, and at this price point I feel a bit ripped off.
The scent is fantastic though.

Edit: upon further wearing, this is very similar to Jo Malone's Oud & Bergamot cologne intense. At nearly a quarter of the price (£100 per 100ml compared to By Kilians £370 per 100ml) I'll stick with Ms Malone's offering thank you. It also lasts longer. Esteé Lauder cant even get the plaque on the bottle centered.

zina saleh

very addictive , very sexy unisex fragrance , in the dry down i can smell the nutmeg and amber , very sexy and different , i have a mini size but will order the full bottle soon

Nraveles

Ummm... @yigitalikaymak idk if you’re joking but this literally lasts a good 7-8 hours on 99% of people. It’s. A pretty good performer in my opinion. Not beastly but still good to where you don’t have to keep reapplying.

Beautifully boozy spiced cedar (smells more oak-ish to me tho) with some amazing vanilla and dried fruits. Very very linear on me but that’s not a bad thing at all.
If you love boozy scents and very woody scents, this is a must try. It’s gorgeous.

yigitalikaymak

on skin it disappears in 2-3 minutes.

Stwmylos

This is remarkable.
Opens up very boozy and medicinal, for the first 1h approximately I think this fragrance is a bit peculiar, but interesting nonetheless.
Gradually, it transforms into something much smoother and more polite. In this state, which lasts the longest, I find this perfume to be very likeable and unique.

When I first tried it, I only moderately liked the fragrance, but now I have come to like it significantly more.

Kilian's best.

8.5/10

lavender_and_teal013

I realize this fragrance is marketed more towards men, however I personally love and wear this. I really appreciate the rum notes with the oak and cedar. It's woody but not too fresh or green, and well-balanced. On me, this lasts well over 12 hours, with the first six to eight having decent projection, though I can still smell it for much longer throughout the day. It's not overpowering and it doesn't give me a headache. It's one of those scents that I think could be very versatile (work, date night, etc) and well-liked by people. I do prefer this for fall-winter and I wish the price was a bit lower.

SniffDeez

Fuckin' good one this don't listen to the haters, they can sniff deez if you know what i'm sayin.

ps. not my nuts

Sam654

I quite like this scent. Not much sillage but I don’t necessarily want that with this fragrance. This is not a “woo the ladies” scent. This is for self satisfaction. Sitting back, watching a football game with your favorite single malt scotch and cigar.

Alanitoo

I didn't care for this one. My opinion is quite neutral. I'm not a fan of patchouli and you can definitely smell a green accord in the dry down, which I assume it's the patchouli. The opening is quite boozy too.

ptsau

I love the scent but I didn’t rate it ‘love’, only ‘like’ because it has weaker longevity. Only 5-6 hours. With its price, it’s a little too weak. Kilian has some very long lasting fragrances, also has some weak ones. You just need to pick the right one. I still use it from time to time, just need to reapply in the middle of the day. I think Kilian is still one of the houses that has the most unique and original scents. People who know fragrances would know you’re using Kilian’s when they smell you.

BVR

not worth so much money.i'm so disappointed.

Vitriol08

Update a year in:
still so disappointing and underwhelming
i have worn it four or five times since then and it is just so diluted and not interesting
comparatively, i just wore Incident Diplomatique from Jovoy, which is the masterpiece and beast mode of this one.

So underwhelming and not worth the price
you can tell the intent is great but the result is just a very faint and weak scent
such a high price for a scent that becomes a skin scent so quickly and disappears after less than an hour
based on the scent history, it was obviously reformulated and tuned down greatly

LeNomParumes

"Straight to Heaven" is such the misnomer. I would've named it "Cedar Sawmill", as an overwhelming cedar note is about the only thing I get from this one dimensional scent. The only other notes I vaguely get are a light amber and - even though it's not listed - a smudged linalool / lavender that long lasts in the dry down. Anyone who paid retail price for this: sorry for your loss.

guileman15

Starting is good . But don't go far. After 2 hour you can only smell it where you spray. Not a niche . Disappointed.

_smellingreat_

This fragrance is incredible. The boozey rum, woody, spicy story it tells is unique. Yet all too quickly the story is over.

After no time at all it becomes a skin scent, then after a couple hours almost gone completely- which I think is unforgivable for this price point.

Rosemary14

What a boozy fragrance. It’s beautiful but I have to admit that I’d be afraid to wear this for fear that I’d smell like I was drunk. It has that deep beautiful DNA that Kilian is known for. It’s conjuring up a room full of Titans of industry with cigars, crystal glasses full of expensive alcohol, and plenty of varnished wood. Actually more precisely it has plenty of High quality cedar and high quality booze. Very nicely blended and I picture a wealthy 40 or 50 year old man wearing it. It’s distinguished and sexy.
