Job Description
General Summary:
The Network Engineer is a critical design and escalation support
position with preferred four or more years of experience to start. This person
will exhibit advanced knowledge of workstation operation (hardware & software),
advanced knowledge of server operation, switching and routing. This position
requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and can manage skillfully
when the client presents a critical issue with significant impact, requiring guidance
and remediation. This person should be prompt and understand the importance of
communicating with the clients. The pace and demands in this
position are substantial and demand prioritizing skills and communicating project
expectations to clients. This person should be seasoned at
pre-project/work-briefings with clients and able to execute with a high degree
of success in integrating and/or solving problems in environments of advanced complexity.
Most importantly, this person should be eager to learn while
following prescribed directions, procedures, and leadership directives. Finally,
they need to perform the job responsibilities within a Team culture guided by a
Team Leader.
Position Responsibilities:
Design, deploy, configure, and troubleshoot advanced client IT infrastructure including; Cloud, Virtualization, Switching, Routing/Firewall, Servers, Applications, etc..
Our primary focus will be on firewall/routing/and switching skills.Remediate data backup advanced problems escalated from Help Desk
Complete daily time entry as required by company policy
Assits and Mentor Help Desk Engineers
Maintain a minimum of two approved certifications at the latest version
Continuing education on IT topics as prescribed by Management.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience:
Experience installing and configuring Windows client operating systems
Experience installing and configuring Windows server operating systems, features, and roles
Experience with Microsoft Office Applications including Office 365
Experience with Cloud, Firewalls, Switches, Wireless, Virtualization, Shared Storage.
Emphasis on Sonicwall firewalls.
Knowledge:
Advanced understanding of OSI model and networking principles (physical & wireless)
Advanced understanding of Microsoft Windows client operating systems
Advanced understanding of Microsoft Windows server operating systems
Advanced understanding of virtualization and cloud technologies
Advanced understanding of the OSI model, VLAN, Routing, and Switching principles
Abilities:
Takes direction from Supervisor and Management
Takes ownership of tasks and follows through to ensure complete resolution
Personal interest in, and responsibility for, quality of work they perform or associated with
Qualifications
Education & Credentials:
Two-year Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; preferred Four-year Technical Degree.
Minimum of two current, neutral 3rd party, or vendor specific certification
Additional Information
Physical Demands: This position may require some or all of the following physical demands on a daily basis: Lifting, stooping, kneeling, talking and hearing. Good corrected near vision is important. In addition, this position may be exposed to noise and vibration, 120/240 VAC electrical circuits, low voltage electrical circuits, odors and fumes, non-toxic substances, and wet and/or humid conditions.
Tools Used: A wide variety of hand tools and software tools will be provided to fulfill the job duties.
Misc.: This position will require possible use of the jobholder’s personal vehicle for the performance of company business. Mileage will be reimbursed at a rate set by Orion Integration Group policy. Some late night, weekend and/or overtime hours may be required. The jobholder may be required to attend company paid educational seminars. The jobholder may be required to carry a pager and/or cell phone. Limited out-of-town travel with overnight stays may be required.
