CHANNELS LIST

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.4.3 update, we announced that WhatsApp is working on a feature to pin channels. Through this feature, WhatsApp aims to provide users with the ability to prioritize and quickly access their favorite or most important channels in the future. This can be especially useful for users who follow multiple channels for updates, news, or other information. Although this feature is still in development, it seems that WhatsApp is committed to further refining the channels list by introducing new features, as discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.9.34 update from the Google Play Store.

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is currently in the process of updating the channels list by introducing several new enhancements. One of these additions is a new entry point to allow users to create their own channels and discover new ones, making the interface more intuitive. WhatsApp also intends to show the verified badge right within the channels list, as it’s not available in the current version of the app. In addition, WhatsApp is redesigning the recommended channels section at the bottom of the list, making it easier for users to follow and explore new content. WhatsApp is also developing a feature that enables users to select multiple channels at once for bulk actions, such as muting, marking them as read, or pinning.

In our opinion, these enhancements will definitely elevate the user experience when engaging with channels. Particularly, the new feature allowing users to select multiple channels at once for bulk actions will make it easier for them to manage channels. This capability will be used to quickly mute or unmute multiple channels, allowing users to control notifications in one action. By selecting all channels at once through the overflow menu, users will be able to reduce the time needed for channel management. Additionally, by displaying the verified badge directly within the main channels list, WhatsApp aims to help users quickly identify official or trusted channels in the future. This feature is particularly useful for distinguishing authentic channels from non-verified ones with an identical name and icon.

An improved channels list feature is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will share another article once we’ve gathered additional information about this feature.
