À warm, orchard apple opens this perfume, the sort you'd make cloudy apple juice from.
Then as it dries down cinnamon and aldehydes (ever so slightly cheesy) are revealed, then finally the trademark EDP musky base.

Bizarre, complex and wonderful.

CHESTDAYBABY

outrageously surprising.

opening has a piercing freshness that wakes you the f*ck up.

the dry down however, my lord is it lovely.

it reminds me if it was Louis Vuitton Imagination’s sister.

BadPete

Opening is good, but dry down is great especially on clothes. I love to wear it to gym. It works well with body heat and sweat. Very refreshing during work out.

bunnymusk

Ambroxan, tangerine and apple. Zesty, creamy, minimal, unisex. The green apple is really interesting - it’s a bit aged, cut several days ago and left on the counter to spoil, provides a bit of funk to an otherwise squeaky clean composition. I love it.

UPDATE: I really enjoy this scent and have worn it several times now. Without fail, my husband always tells me that it reminds him of books in a library. I think it’s likely the mineral notes of ambroxan combined with the aged apple he’s picking up on, book binding adhesive and thumbed-through pages. How neat that we both enjoy this scent but have wildly different interpretations of it. I smell it as breezy, sexy, a sunset beach walk wearing a slip dress and a sipping champagne . He smells something quiet, cozy, familiar - a day spent curled up in a cushy armchair reading. It’s a bit magic, this one.

Musk , aldehyde , cedar and Amber are the base notes of this wonderful scent. All my favourite notes , I feel so fresh and attractive in this clean seductive scent. I am so in love with it. It’s a out of the shower but better body scent that you just can’t get enough of. I want to poor it over my head , sleep in it , go out in it …and wear it all day long. Huge compliments on this one. I can’t count the amount of times someone tells me “ you smell soooo good , what is that ? “ not what perfume are you wearing … which is what I like. Most of the time I just want to smell GOOD …and not of perfume unless I go to a function or out for dinner.

Houdini4

Outragous! then.
Well, on a personal level, I love technical elegance in perfumery and it would be hard to deny that Sophia Grosjman doesn't epitomise that. Her commonly used collection of woody, floral, musk and ionone materials creating a signature accord is akin to taking a well established three chord progression and crafting a hit song out of it.
What's Outrageous about this perfume is perhaps that it takes some of that approach and applies to a high end art brand, rather than a more modest and affordable high street one. So...The price is Outrageous basically.
I'm joking of course, value in perfume is certainly not judged that way in this camp, and for a moment there I honestly thought I'd fallen in love with this perfume, but on reflection, I can't quite justify the expenditure, even at a reduced price.
Outrageous smells bright and such in the opening, it's not very analog as expected, it's a fruity powder for the digital age. What I do like is just how minimal and uncluttered it is. The apple note is not annoying, the orange blossom is so squeaky clean it barely has any of the naturalism which makes orange blossom so interesting, the wax and animalic indole or even the pairing with spices like caraway or cumin from perfumes like Serge Lutens, Fleur d'oranger for example.
Yet this sanitised version of orange blossom (that's what dominates to me) is somehow satisfying and not lacking, because it's providing me with something else I crave, a perfume which allows me to wear and enjoy and almost switch off any kind of critical thought or deep emotion, usually something I'd say a perfume needs to have, but the lack thereof is what makes Outrageous (ALMOST) special.

hmmmm...I think I need to continue this at some point.....

i feel women screaming to my face and men silently screaming to my face for wearing it. very outrageous. scandalous. bad journalism and worse courts. Sarcozy with dictatorship. why the perfume is not mine? the children are starving. various falsehoods, even libel on myself.

Mc1995

Fresh citrus aromatic. Soft. Like a candied version of Mugler ‘Cologne’ I dig this house and I love Sophia Grojsman. But I wouldn’t say this is worth the price. I got a sample and I’ll mess with it some more. Pleasant, but the Mugler one is a better value honestly.

dilfluver777

this scent is a light, clean, citrusy, floral with slight twang that dies down. the initial opening is fresh, musky, and slightly aldehydic. the apple note isn’t juicy, but rather dry. i think its because of the orange blossom and neroli. the orange blossom and neroli are very much rounded out by the cinnamon. the cinnamon isn’t spicy but it adds this sort playdough like chalky texture, but it's still pretty smooth and muted. i find the experience of this fragrance is short lived and simple. it becomes anosmic after a couple of minutes. ironically there is nothing outrageous about this.

Thanks Sophia Grojsman.
Thank you for your being.
You create my favourite scent and it cheer me up everyday.

One of the most beautiful parfume

derby2169

Outrageous is a brilliant fragrance, quite literally a sparkly translucent fresh experience that is pretty much unprecedented in the last 400 or so fragrances I have been through so far.

Bergamot with a neroli top note, fresh slightly floral compounds giving a green apple like feel in opening, almost a bit magnolia like, but most importantly these huge radiant floral linen like musks in the back produce a very impressive projection like an aura around you. In the heart are also these ingenius cinnamon traces that push further freshness and cleanliness into the formula. The choice and quality of the backbone compounds used here are also ridiculous, you get this intense watery damp feel to the whole composition, like you have dipped your skin in a cold citrus apple water.

Fantastic overall, probably my 3rd or 4th favorite FM fragrance after Cologne Indelebile and Eau de Magnolia. A beautiful fresh unisex warm weather fragrance with fantastic quality and artistry.

L'eauLark

As has been said, there is something a bit synthetic here. The opening is a lovely citrus but just a few minutes in there is something chalky that creeps in. It reminds me of the Brausetabletten I used to get in Germany... similar to EmergenC powder here. I could see the combination of citrus with a medicinal chalkiness being interesting... but it doesn’t work for me.

EffieKleos

This us one of my all time favorite day time scents. Fresh, clean, light...and that is the weakness--so light has no staying power. That said, I discovered the limited edition at Barneys Co-op years ago, and it was $100 for a full size bottle so very good value for a Frederic Malle perfume

isant

I really love this fragrance but it doesn't last longer than 30 minutes. It doesn't even last as a skin scent on me.

Mobrien37

What was Sophia thinking? This smells absolutely nothing like any of sophias other masterpieces. I would never have put this with her other perfumes. It’s nice, but nothing special. I own every single perfume that Sophia has created or co-created except eternity purple orchid and I love every single one of them. She’s a literal God in my eyes. But this is really not her best perfume. I must be missing something here. Don’t get me wrong it’s a lovely perfume but it smells more like a Britney scent. WhAt am I missing?

It smells very similar to another Sophia perfume… Love2love - which costs under 5 pounds. Wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

FourthSense

My respects to Sophia Grojsman. Your craftsmanship, talent and creativity can be sensed in this beauty. Many of the reviews are right in describing Outrageous as a fresh, crispy, fresh perfume. But it is all quite versatile, You can wear it during, springtime, day and night in the summertime, and early fall. The first time I use it, was when I bought a 10 ml bottle. After I while I wanted a full bottle, but many fragrances have lately reached 'outrageous' prices. I looked for it on eBay, and there it was, my precious was waiting for me at a reasonable price. The dislike of one person is the treasure of another. It is classy, playful at the same time, and versatile. When smelling it, let the aroma stay in your nostrils and appreciate the structure. It is when you will notice its complexity and realize why it is among F. Malle's creations.

betsyglez8

I really love this fragrance .

based-in-la

This is hard to pinpoint, I do like it but also im uncertain? It's kind of like a mix between another 13 and cologne indelebile, also bigarade 18, but more synthetic I think..? and I'm currently between this and indelebile, struggling here.

update: I think it is a bit too sweet / appley sweet for me honestly. would be nice on a girl.

emerson10

Outrageous -- is this scent outrageous? hard to love? no. In fact, it feels easy, agreeable, albeit weird, with some sort of metallic, latex note lingering in the mix among the green, dewy fruity notes. Perhaps in comparison to other scents in the line, this one feels a little outrageous -- more flippantly crafted maybe, but I think it's fun and carefree. I spent probably 45 minutes in the Frederic Malle store yesterday, sniffing everything over and over, and there was something about Outrageous I kept coming back to. I think it was the fact that I genuinely could not assess how I felt about it and that's what intrigued me. Other scents were quite easy for me to make a decision about how I felt about them, but Outrageous sat somewhere in my brain with no discernable emotion attached. In store, I felt like it was almost a fruity and more palatable version of Secretions Magnifiques (there's that same underlying weird metallic, latex, synthetic thing going on), BUT in SM I dryheave; in Outrageous -- I felt neutral, erring on the side of enjoyment.

I am wearing my tester today and it smells like soft melon and birthday balloons and I honestly find it pleasant and fun.

justcheckinout

It's a very fresh, green neroli topped with citrus on my skin. Amber gets the least votes here but on my skin ambroxan is definitely more dominant than musk. I got more apple and orange blossom when I smell it from the sprayer, but they fade away quite quickly on my skin. So overall it's a neroli-ambroxan for spring and summer for me!

Enrium

Outrageous is quite the misnomer. A competently put-together aromatic, apple scent, it is fresh and bright, yet with a musky undertone that is present almost from the beginning. I really admire Sophia Grojsman's work (YSL Paris being a particular favourite), and was excited to try this one, seeing as she was presumably given free creative licence and a large budget to work with. I expected a bombastic scent, perhaps featuring an unusual use of rose - so this light, fresh exploration of apple couldn't have been further from my expectations of a scent named "Outrageous". Apple often gets overlooked in perfumery, and this scent is a pleasant and creative example of placing the apple note front and centre.

The opening of Outrageous is beautiful - a crisp, realistic apple note bolstered by some citric freshness. The apple is king however, lasting throughout. It is aromatic, slightly spicy thanks to the cinnamon, and the steam iron quality is particularly prominent. There is a woodiness to it during its early stages too - reminding me of an orchard, but it is unfortunately fleeting. I don't get any neroli.

Ambroxan slowly emerges in the background, alongside soft, clean white musk as it dries down. The apple lingers, but it becomes a single-note ambroxan scent as it fades. I'm not an ambroxan fan, but here it works well as a counterpoint to the apple note. Sillage and longevity are moderate (but the best part of this scent is fleeting - the ambroxan prolongs it). A perfectly unisex, fresh, aromatic spring/summer scent, this musky apple makes for a refreshing change from citrus cologne.

Cool and unusual, but far from Outrageous. 3.5/5.

NYH

As a relatively new perfume junkie, i went to bloomingdales with a purpose. Summer is here and it’s getting really really hot. That’s when i realized about 90% of my perfumes are gourmands (best used in winter/fall). Then i met Outrageous, i’ve smelt it in winter & didn’t care for it, until i met this beautiful creation again this week. This perfume is made for high heat summers. It’s different than the average freshie/musk so i didn’t feel it was boring at all. The apple is so fresh yet crisp, definitely a unisex frag. I can also smell the neroli as well which i love. I tested it on my skin and clothes, longevity and silage might be an issue but i need to further test this frag. It seemed to last longer on my skin than clothes. I don’t get the hate this perfume has got! Please test in really warm weather.

EDIT- Performance is insanely bad i feel robbed. Mixing it with my BR540 Extrait at night & Another 13 in the morning..

Ksj_

I don’t smell anything after 30 seconds…

smellysmello

Outrageous is like if you added a bit of citrus and mint to spiced apple juice and ran it through a steam iron. It's a quirky, fun scent. Unisex, casual but interesting. I have a small travel size and enjoy it, but don't find it particularly versatile for frequent wear. Works best for me in warm weather.

amatuerfraghead

This is really bright, uplifting and citrusy, just like getting splashed with cold water. It opens with citrus, followed by white flowers with some dept to it. Neroli, orange blossom, petitgrain, mint, grapefruit and lime, you probably could guess that this is gonna be a bright one, and its really is. Dont know what is outrageous in this, as its extremely mass appealing and impossible to dislike. However, this could be perceived as rather boring, but sometime the simpler the better? Anyway, this has extremely short live as it barely last on my skin and the sillage isn't the best. Rather overpriced in my opinion.

Not the most intriguing from frederic malle, but if you want a simple and bright fragrance im sure this is will tick your boxes.

ingeneuxo

-Soapy floral scent with the slightest tinge of sweetness.
-Dries down a tad spicy. (-)

bovogie

I love the scent but I’m so not impressed with the longevity. The juice is weak, real weak. It literally disappears right under your nose.

@missmermaid

Are you sure you tested Outrageous and not something else? It is like you are describing a whole different fragrance :)

missmermaid

This is an odd one- it smells so instantly and strongly of coriander seeds- like, knock you over the head with it- I'm shocked and amazed it's not listed. How can anyone NOT smell the coriander seeds?? Green, fresh, round little seeds- when you bite into them, and they gently pop under your teeth. Somewhere under all of this herbaceous oppression is a bit of powdery neroli and some fresh laundry dryer smells blowing around an outdoor air vent in the summer, but my god the coriander seeds are unmistakable and aggressive: You are going to smell like coriander, and you are going to like it! There is no green apple. There is no sweetness. The coriander has beaten them all to death, unapologetically.

Who would wear this? I don't really know. I think it smells more masculine than feminine, and it might be appealing on the right man if you randomly caught it on their bedsheets or clothes a day later, thinking of what you got up to the night before- but this one is definitely NOT a blind buy. (Ha, as if anyone is going to spend $360/50ml on a Malle blind buy... but there you go.)

I have a 10ml bottle with the original tiny box available for trade. I've worn it three times to give it a try, it's not for me. If you are interested in it, shoot me a DM.

tonkatsu335

I tried this on a blotter strip and it smelled disgusting, like sweat. After a while, it even smelled like sulfur.
I tried it in a department store, so I can't imagine that the tester was outdated.

brokesta911

Frederic Malle Outrageous (2007) - apple neroli - It’s a great thing to start the week with #sophiagrojsman ‘s perfume. Bright and sparkling. Starts off with a very fresh Lime-Mint up top, but quickly shows its Apple, Neroli and Orange Blossom heart. The composition is balanced and filled with White Musks and an Ambergris-like molecule that has woody, amber and salty-skin like smell. I get to picture crunchy ice cubes, sugar crystals, muddled mint, tart apple slices, while sitting at a traditional wooden bar. Nostalgic.

jonesox

I love it. I dont have anything other than this that does clean, fruity and sexy in the same fragrance. Yes, its an EDT, so it doesn't last as long. But I don't care. Fyi, I bought it over POAL and I went to buy POAL. That says a lot. Perfect for the gym, day time shopping, day party or outdoor lunch/cocktails in the summer.

Dhandho

This is a very pleasant, certainly unisex, spring and summer scent. It has an expected citrus opening and a surprising creamy dry down but it is far too quick to leave you. As most FM frags it is luxurious, but this one offers better value than most and is an EDT which is one reason it doesn't last. It is inspired by a famous Brazilian cocktail and as such is a creative concept but not Outrageous. Do sample before you buy to wear as maybe in different humidity it will pop more. Happy to own but it falls well short of a masterpiece even though it had potential to be one. 4/5

Selene2

When I first smelled this, the scent was instantly recognizable. I couldn’t put my finger on it at first but then I realized what it was. Car freshener. This smells like a good ole New York Taxi.

Stwmylos

I dont understand how the name fits the content, as this fragrance is subtle, polite and floral.
Anyway, it is rather enjoyable, however I have to point out that it is clearly more on the fem side rather than the masculine one. The notes that prevail here are neroli and orange blossom.

I find myself constantly sniffing my wrist.

7.5/10

PinkCloudsAndApricots

This is one of my favorite creations from the talented Sophia Grojsman. It doesn't smell like laundry detergent or the typical linen scent to me at all. The green apple, neroli, and orange blossom really come through on my skin. It has a really beautiful sweetness to it (not sugary), and although it's a brighter scent, it has no sharpness to it. It is smooth, fun , and vibrant. I have the bottle with the silver cap and orange writing. I got it in 2014, and haven't smelled newer bottles, so don't know if the formula has changed. The performance is great on me, and lasts most of the day with a pretty hefty sillage. This is perfect to my nose!

If you like to smell like laundry detergent, this one is for you.

It does resemble smell of fresh linen with synthetic compounds. Fragrance for home like for candles or to wash with. Actually, it might be used clothes refresher if made into a mist, but not a perfume you want to smell on body when not having clothes on…if you know what I mean. That would be quite outrageous.

raadu.cel.frumos

@houstcs You're crazy man

DT953

I just do not enjoy this fragrance at all - I'm sorry. It's ... sour, pungent and musty. It doesn't agree with my skin at all. When I first tried I thought I had a sample gone bad. Unfortunately not. I tried this from a bottle that was freshish, and smelt the same. Sad. I guess every line has to have an outlier. Got aspects of Wool by Commodity.

eleonora95

It's not a 'bad' fragrance, of course, but at my nose this is a simple, light, citrusy short-lasting perfume that reminds me of those my grandmother bought me when I was a child, absolutely not outrageous !!
What are we talking about?
I do not care here to quibble about the corporate price marketing choices, or even the habit to give attractive names that are then betrayed by the actual content of the bottle.
I simply don't buy: the world is full of delicious, original and serious fragrances that are worth all their price, even if very high.

Craigzb

Smells fresh and invigorating when first sprayed and then fades very quickly to a somewhat odd skin scent.

dcjimr

Years ago when Barney's was the only place that sold it, this was my signature scent. It didn't last very long on the skin, but spritzing this on sent me back to my childhood...sunny days, clean laundry drying on the clothesline, and Mom serving cold lemonade. I went through 3 bottles of this stuff. Then Barney's closed their D.C. stores and I just moved on to other scents. One day I saw it at Neiman Marcus and bought it immediately, not even bothering to spray it on. Alas, the formula had changed and there was a note that was introduced that literally repelled me. Luckily, Neiman's allowed me to exchange this for another fragrance. Let this be a lesson to all: if you haven't smelled something in a while, it might have been reformulated so make sure it's the same scent you fell in love with!

loveparfum

Neiman gave me a 1.2ml sample of Outrageous EDT. One spray on the wrist the top note opens like clean cloths just came out of the dryer. After a few minutes, I pick up the neroli and orange blossom and stay close to the skin for about 1 hour. I get more sillage from 4 full sprays. It smell very similar to Tom Ford Neroli Portofino except in TFNP the neroli and orange blossom are a lot stronger and lasted for 2 hours on my extra dry skin. The scents are more masculine and be better on men than women. Even though these two fragrances are office safe and can be use as an everyday scent but it’s too expensive for such a simple linear scents. Then again, they can smell better on other people with the right chemistry.

joeteazo

this is weird, I get a ton of cinnamon

Amberless

I love this fragrance! Very easy to wear, and bright. The price is outrageous however, since the scent doesn't last. If this can be a true parfum with staying power, I would purchase. Mr. Malle, do you read me??!!

EnergeticCrab

On me, Outrageous is predominantly orange blossom and neroli with spice, fresh greens, a hint of mint, citrus, and musk. Eventually it settles into a soft, skin scent.

I had to re look up aldehydes to understand if I was able to identify them, and can say this is a great fragrance to learn what they smell like. There is a bright zing of something that can only be them. It's somewhat artificial and like a cleaning solution. Not unpleasant, but not my thing either.

Smells just like Lush "Buck's Fizz" and would not be out of place in their scent library. Also a hint of Fruity Pebbles.

I do not think it is worth the price, despite how easy it is to wear.

gelo999

Sofia plays here with the contrast of cool versus warm. The fresh is natural and citrus, the warm is synthetic, metallic and outstanding as in Laine de Verre. Ambroxan, together with cinnamon and musk, envelops you like the waves of the sea on a full moon night.

It is very conceptual and evolves soft, persistent and not very powerful, but with a round composition and well made.

The worst is the price quality ratio, I would not pay so much for this fragrance.

I’ve only really tried the ‘main’ FM’s but I’m steadily working my way through the ones that have been out years but I didn’t get to yet.
My main objection to this is the name...because it’s not outrageous is it? I mean notes like cellophane, pebble, dew drop, or squid...now that would be outrageous, this is just meh.
It’s a synthetic, musky citrus accord with that classical edc element of white florals which are non typical but still not outrageous, on a cedar type base. I didn’t think much of it after the okay opening, then when it settled I actively wasn’t much of a fan but then (and this is usually the case with many perfumes) when dried right down to faint basenotes, I thought mmmm...that’s really nice actually. Outrageous averages out to be OK that is all.

felipebizarria.1

Laundry detergent w/ neroli. If you're into synthetics, you'd better go w/ Maison Francis Kurkdjian compositions in this case.

Aquarky63

I usually love Ms. Grojsman’s compositions but this had too much ISO E super (cedar and musk) in it for me. About 30 minutes in that was the predominant note. I believe I may have some sensitivity to this note or it does not work with my skin chemistry, so please consider that as my review is less than stellar. It smelled wonderful on my bestie, which led me to buy a bottle...but had to return it. If Iso E super does not work well for you, please try a sample before investing.

ClEL

@ My friend has to carry it with him because it doesn't Last. He smells good still.

SuperCleanOozy

I would love some feedback from those with recent experience of Outrageous. I know I love the smell already, but I was wondering about the performance. I'm tempted to get this (but also seriously considering a full bottle of French Lover or Monsieur)...

Please and thank you!

pozimhoff

I had difficulties with something in the opening that I cannot identify but wants to take my head off. In time, there is a bit of promise when the mystery ingredient fades away but quickly goes to a softer but overly sugarly orange cream ice cream confection and the sugar just grows and grows. I can see where some will fall in love with this but just not for me. It has all the charm of an overdressed woman trying too hard who drinks too much champagne and becomes drippy sweet and overly affectionate. That never ends well.

Chris89

This is what carefree smells like.

Love the fruity, musky, fresh, slightly spicy aroma this creates. Bought it for my boyfriend and I love getting whafts of it all day. Sometimes it almost smells like a green fresh flanker for Spicebomb or something. Probably because of the cinnamon.

The green apple note is gorgeous. Worth a try if your looking for a fun take on a long lasting carefree cologne for summer.

GrayJacques

Effervescent, transparent, clean and fresh. Literally wears like a second skin and is perfectly unisex depending on who's looking at it.
Very unique approach on ambroxan, green apple note lingers throughout its life, supported by a delicate cinnamon note as well.
Surprisingly good sillage and longevity for this type of fragrance.
Probably best suited for close quarters or intimate situations.
You would certainly have to invest in 100ml bottle to get any kind value for it, but would I pay $200 CAD for it? No. Unfortunately not.

whoaboy

I revere most of the Frederic Malle line, but this one is a big miss for me. Like another reviewer, I smell limes mixed with melon, almost like orange juice from concentrate. It really reminds me of the old Claiborne for Men. My husband likes it a lot though.

KateElizabeth

This perfume opened up with a “sparkly” citrusy summer smell—almost as if I had spritzed my arm with fresh lemon, orange and grapefruit juices on a hot summer day. Mid-way through, I began to smell a touch of orange creamsicle. In its drydown it turned to citrus dryer sheets. While this perfume remained pleasant in its stages, at no point did I feel it was worth the money.

pauroj

my first review disappeared !!!!
well good it was terrible and i mean it was kinda mean but i will be very honest the beginning it's super offensive call me crazy but it smells exactly like rotten limes, limes that have been in the fridge for over a month and turn dark yellow in some spots and then once cut are completely bitter.

it is just so bitter, maybe is my skin but i really wanted to like this and it is just so pungent sorry :*(

chanka

First spray wake you up its beautiful clean fresh smell
but little bit home spray
After 10 minutes it disappears and you can feel it only when you sniff your skin when you sprayed it and what i smell? Some cleaning detergent the one witth added artificial lemon
Ok so as i was writing this review and my husband came in and said hmmmm nice smell!
I asked him do u smell it? I cant smell it anymore and he said yes
I asked him and? What do you smell?
He said nice window cleaner !
Probably the one with lemon as i said

Update:
After 30 mins (very close to skin) light blue as someone mentioned here
After one hour no trace on my skin at all

With all that said i like it as i like clean fresh or clean powdery scent but wont buy it for that price...

P.s i have original FM sample 2ml bottle

canny1234

The scent of salty sun-warmed skin after a day on the beach. Some beautiful young thing sipping a Mojito garnished with Apple, citrus and mint.I'm doomed to love this even though I'm 53 and definitely not a young thing anymore.I need several sprays of this for projection and longevity.My10 ml spray will not last long at this rate. This comes over as a very lovely expensive cologne that requires spraying lavishly. Will I buy a full size bottle - A definite yes.

msafro

Just got email from Frederic Malle official website, that it's available again in two formats - 10 cc and 100 cc, and no shipping charges

This fragrance leads me to think I'm struggling with psychological issues. Somehow seductive, which Is bizarre given I'm smelling a 45 year old trucker who has been on the road for 2 months without showering and just showered in lime juice. Makes me want to stick my face to a sweaty trucker just to see if I'm delusional

Lana148

White floral lovers have to try this one. I tried this because I love citrus fragrances, but this one is definitely white floral. Well blended, very realistic natural notes.

kinetisphere

outrageous? no, but captivating. yes i agree it's got a super fresh and green burst that is in your face and to be honest it does remind me of another fragrance that i just can not put my finger on right now.. hummmm?

the top opens up beautifully and kinda has an effervescent effect to it.. you can tell it has lots of lime and grapefruit with a sliver of green apple hiding away in there maybe i'm confusing the neroli for the orange blossom but they do smell very similar.

ahhhh after some time the musky animalic portion starts to rear it's head at you way towards the hour or hour and a half mark. by this time the whole thing has turn very subtle and reminds me of a skunky sherbet icecream. please do not think that in a negative way.. the fragrance still smells delicious i am just trying to evoke your imagination trying to involve you on this scent journey :)

all in all i like this perfume. out of all the malle fragrances this and a couple others are more or less the under dogs of the group.

i think the name makes you expect way more than what it is. when i think of outrageous i think of crazy balls to the wall awesomeness!! this falls short of that image. but in the end that's my own misconception. outrageous is a dam good perfume.
if you want a quality summer fragrance that can play during the hot afternoons and becomes very chill for the nights you might like this.

*imagine starting off in a summer dress and ending in a evening gown. just my opinion.

i give it a 7 out of ten.

ok,I received five sample vials of this in a sample lot I purchased on ebay. I'd never heard of it,though I knew who Fredrick Malle was.I'm a little intimidated by such revered scents as Portrait of a Lady or Carnal Flower, afraid I won't appreciate them, that I'm not sophisticated enough. So,as this one didn't seem so well know,or so lauded,I thought ok,maybe this one won't be so bad.
Initial spritz is a bit off putting,Very sharp and, green, lots of lime and I'm guessing neroli. Not positive what neroli smells like, exactly. I've probably smelled it before,in something else I have, but it's not one of those notes I'm real familiar with.
It stays pretty sharp for awhile.maybe 30 minutes to an hour, but then, something happens,It becomes much softer, and sweeter. It's at this point I said,HMM not as bad as I thought.
But then, maybe 2 hours in,the dry down is very nice,my favorite part. It's light and sweet, light flowers, and a hint of citrus.
I had planned on blowing through my samples for the finish this bottle thread, but I might just hold off on that, and enjoy Outrageous a little longer.

This has the very same citrus opening and what Luca Turin calls a "hissy steam iron" aroma molecule and light white musk basenote in common with Mugler Cologne. It reminds me very strongly of that successful fragrance.

So - you can pay more for this (it was $140 retail where I saw it) or simply get the Mugler Cologne for less than half the price.

I get lots of sour apple and lime in mine. Not so much on the orange blossom. But I am used to wearing Cobra by Jeanne Arthes when I want orange blossom

This does not smell "outrageous" by any means, but it smells like orange creamsicle!

Opening: Green apple and mint - very nice fresh greenness;

Sometime later: Orange blossom and neroli, and lots of it! Makes me think of Sweet Redemption by Kilian. It smells unisex, not entirely feminine;

Dry-down: Orange creamsicle! But it's not very sweet, and there is prominent cedarwood note; lime still "peaks in" time to time.

Very nice overall, try it!

I don't know why they call it Outrageous. All I know is...I love how it smells on me. It's fairly exclusive, and I feel that conveys a little aura of mystery. (People can't quite place it, or recognize it.) I'm not capable of breaking down the notes and elements, but... Like a favorite song, I may not be able to say why I like it, but I do. It's my preferred everyday year-round fragrance.

Hmm, nothing "outrageous" at all about this scent. I was expecting something like Exclamation, or Poison, based on the name..but once again, "whats in a name?" Nothing. This is a rather tame perfume really. It is hotter than the bowels of hell today, and this brisk opening of citruses, and mint was very welcome. I was in fear of the orange blossom & amber getting out of hand and drowning me, but not so. This is beautiful, soft, gentle, and cool. Tart green apple, more like the skin, slightly bitter, citruses, mint, and two potentially obnoxious flowers behaving well. I can tell there are woods & amber to sing backup, but this they're doing well, and i really enjoy this fragrance. I think the name is poor marketing, this is a fragrance for a hot day, or day out shopping & having fun! A very "relaxed" scent even, i would say, it projects the same vibe almost as Ralph Lauren Blue for women, while not being alike scent-wise. Just relaxed citrus, floral, herbal-with a little tang! Really pretty daytime scent. I could see enjoying it with a grown-up iced tea, shades & a magazine in the hammock... Not much projection here either, it stays close and does not announce itself "outrageously" at all. I bet a man could pull this off no problem, but I dont think id shell out the bucks for such a casual scent, there are many similar casual, citrus/herbal scents & colognes out there, and though there must be one for everyone, this is not for me. There is a little something "sharp" developing here as well. Citrus rind, i think, or crushed lime leaves, and the musk, which is similar here to the musk in Montale's "Roses Musk" has finally appeared with the amber & cedar. Lovely ending. Did not last too long. Nice scent, not bound for my dresser though.

@ first it comes on stronger but that quickly mellows down to cedar, mint, cinnamon and musk combo.
This is more unisex then women's frag.
It dries down to soft musky powder with crispness surrounding. There's also something vintage and oldish mill dew like; that would be aldehyde part of a scent, kind of comes in and out at times, I could say it's discretely present.
Put together quite nicely.
Unique!

I was in a citrus aromatic mood today, having worn Caron's Alpona morning and afternoon and switching to Outrageous in the evening.

Another fun, catchy scent from one of the world's highest selling noses (or is she THE highest selling nose???)

I want to say Outrageous opens fresh and vibrant, as if you walked out into a citrus garden and scratched at the rinds hanging from the tree. It is these things, but with a kick: cinnamon. I really like it here, as it's unexpected (usually this is tucked away in the base). It makes me think 'hmm.. I wonder what will happen next'.

As the scent develops I detect more of hte mint, which is a note I"m preferring more and more; it's keeps everything from getting too heavy.

This is a great scent to wear if you want to sit back and laugh with friends. It's just plain joyful. Another Malle that has caught my attention.

why? why this perfume is not available elsewhere but USA? Why people do this thing with customers from other countries?

As the name says when i first spritzed that i was! I couldn't make sense but here i'm now with a big decant trying to make sense of it. Although it's not love i'm puzzled. Does this sell well and especially in a brand that has fabulous perfumes make in a modern but rather classic style. Still this one is such a tease. A nouvelle vague scent full of good wit and youthfull modernity. With the strange lime top, the sketchy but shinning orange blossom, and the cedar overwhelmed by an ambergriss-orris and cleaner steam combo from 2090 makes one intriguing experience that although it doesn't make me add to cart, at least makes me think.
