Also , I installed a second hard drive for data backup, and now when I boot,
I get an invalid system disk error, it does go away after I hit a key and
then it boots up fine...I checked the bios, and it was the same as
before.....Boot 1 is IDE1, and the other boots are disabled...I have 2
cd's...so I have the primary master, and the secondary, then on the other
Ide cables, the burner is the master, and the 2nd hard drive is the
slave...the jumpers are right as I have double checked.....
On the cabling of HD's & CD devices: That is possibly where problem may
lie.
It's best to cable hard drives on 1 cable & have master HD (for XP/boot
o.s.) & then slave HD (for your data). And appropriate jumper settings.
It's really best to have CD / CDRW/ DVD cabled separately from hard drives.
Lastly, I could not tell how you prepped the second HD --as far as
partitioning & formatting. For data only, I probably would have made it a
logical partition, rather than a primary; since primary is usually for a
bootable o.s.
